As we open our story, Jonathan's business life is booming, but he's also a man who is suffering yet another loss. Losing his wife and love of his life was bad enough, but now he's lost someone who may not have been the love of his life, but was certainly someone who affected him closely. While he's done his best to pick up the pieces of that sundered relationship, he can't help but feel responsible for the outcome.
However, where two close relationships have withered, another blooms. Violet has transitioned from a badly damaged girl to a vibrant woman, setting her own course in life and is full of purpose. Rather than relying on him for support, she fills a vital role in pushing Jonathan toward greater success. She's not only his assistant at Spurgeon, but also someone who helps keep him centered.
Meanwhile, his investments continue to grow. He procures increasingly larger clients while at the same time helping move the careers of his housemates, CeCi and Deanna, forward. Will he continue to climb this ladder, or will there be another ladder to climb in his future? No matter what, the only direction he plans to go is up.

A lovely progression to the story

A throughly, well researched book. The author clearly spends a lot of time on learning and developing his characters backstories. I regret a little bit some of the financial education which I found a little rambling at times (as with the sometimes overwhelming religious teachings in another of his series) but very much enjoyed the read overall and I am eager for the next volume, for this or any of his ongoing works.
