Constable Hereward and the Popish Maid
It is AD 1688 and the elders of the Bristol Shire in the Plymouth Colony task Constable Hereward with putting an end to mummery and pagan rites on All Hallows' Eve. This puts him at loggerheads with shrewish Molly O'Shea who holds no love for the English in general and Jonathan Hereward in particular, a sentiment shared by the young man. Or not? A Pleasant Halloween Surprise!!!
Reviewed it on October 29, 2026
These four stories, bound together as one book, are really great present for Halloween. They contain some of best HEA stories ever written by Peter Argonis. Included in these four is one of my favorites - Witch Eyes. More importantly, the version found on storiesonline.net has always seemed unfinished to me. Well, surprise of surprises, a new chapter has been added and it brings the story to a nice conclusion.
What can I say about this book? If you are a sucker for a set of Halloween focused romantic stories that are well written and populated by interesting characters, then you MUST get this book.
Highly recommended.
