Jacinta Takes a Walk
by barbar
Language: English
Categories: Fiction » Coming of Age
Content Rating: Older than 17
Jacinta decides she needs to go for a walk. She ends up in a different place from where she started, but that is the outcome of most walks. This story is more about the journey than the destination.
Jacinta is a troubled teen, with an outlook forged by difficult circumstances: alcohol, drugs, loss, deprivation, mental health issues. She’s living in suburban Adelaide, South Australia. Her walk takes her away from her own life and gives her glimpses of the way other people live. How will those glimpses effect her? Can she walk away from her old life and find a better way?

May be Barbar's best to date

Barbar is maturing as a writer. I believe this is her best story to date.
Jacinta is a believable, unexceptional girl (by contrast with Bec). The story makes her special, and leaves the reader hoping the best for her future.

Jacinta takes a walk and captures your heart

BarBar has a gift in creating characters that tug at your heart. Jacinta has experienced trauma, slowly revealed. And we are along her walk as she copes and recovers, somewhat. She affects several others, whom we also care about, especially Tabitha. Highly recommended.
And if you have not read the Bec stories, also by BarBar, look them up.
