The continuing story of our protagonist

This is the summer following the first year. The protagonist is faced with more character building challenges and self discoveries. The author does introduce a few characters within the village he grew up in, but the reader is left wondering what happens to them, their purpose. Will they show up in the third installment of this series? What about his continuing relationship with the various other characters?
Again, it’s well written and keeps you wanting more. I’m definitely looking forward to the third book.
