The Gauntlet Thrown, the second volume in the Lord Bent's Manor series continues directly after the events of volume one, Fire and Ice. The story portrays the continuing adventures of Lord Peter Bentencourt, an Earth-born who was brought to the magical world of Kreven while only an infant, and who later becomes a power to be reckoned with there. In The Gauntlet Thrown, we see Peter facing death many times as his relationship with the powerful Mohennial Sala evolves. All the while, he faces changes in his own manor and with the people who live there.
