What’s on the Desk — October 2026

Catch and Release is growing up. It began as a novella, a Florida coastal story that ran around 31,000 words, and it never quite let go of me. It’s now becoming a full novel of roughly 95,000 words across 35 chapters, and most of it is drafted. If you read the original, you’ll recognize the bones. What’s new is everything the novella only hinted at. A couple of threads I planted years ago are finally going to pay off.

The Wolfram Run has finished its first arc. It’s Lisbon, 1943: neutral ground, which means everyone is lying to everyone. Arc 1 ends the way I didn’t expect when I started it. Some people don’t make it out, and the ones who do carry the marks. I’m figuring out what Arc 2 looks like now.

Living Pictures rides on. For anyone new, it’s my Nevada, 1875 serial, bawdy, crowded, and fond of its sinners. Episodes 3 (“Borrowed Light”) and 4 (“Still Life”) are drafted. The troupe has changed shape since Belle rode off with her rancher, and a man named Teague has started showing up where he isn’t wanted.

Something new: The Freely Given. I’ve started a space opera, and I’m going big: ten books of spicy romance among the stars. Book one is up for pre-order on Amazon now and goes live November 1, free to read with Kindle Unlimited. https://bit.ly/3VM9rZB If you’ve liked the heat in my other work, this is that turned all the way up, with a whole galaxy to burn through.
