“Why do I get the feeling we’re going to offend the travelers next to us before we even leave the airport lounge?”
I prop my feet on my son’s backpack beside me, arch my tits (which are still perky, considering their age), and glance across the glass table at my son and his wildly attractive best friend, whose ears are turning pink and whose eyes are trained on my boobs. Which, let’s be honest, looks fantastic in my hot pink V-neck.
No regrets about the outfit choice, then. Check.
“Mom.” Tanner’s voice carries a warning. “We didn’t tell you to come on this graduation trip to get us banned from Japan.”
I reach over and squeeze my son’s tan hand. “Oh, pumpkin. I’ve been banned from better places.”
I cast a sly wink at Lex because he’s smoldering at me, and how else am I supposed to respond?
“This trip is as much for me as it is for you, champ. Plus, you’re the one who invited your curious scientist friend. I can only look away from this mound of man flesh for so long before I succumb to temptation.”
Lex smiles so hard, a damn giggle bursts out of me.
He’s not the only one who can purr, sugar. God, I want to play with him in a sandbox—and then let him play with me in my sandbox.
Bless his manhood, I can’t remember a time when I craved a man more.
Hell, I’m a woman of a certain age in a male-dominated workplace; I have to experience some kind of itching to bother with sex.
Maybe it’s the early menopause, the memory of my exes, or the stunning realization—after looking in the mirror—that I only got one set of sweet jugs and I’m not about to let them go to waste, damn it.
Tanner gives his best friend a bewildered look. “Don’t get me wrong, Mom. I think a little pink-haired fairy dust is just what we need in Japan. Just didn’t expect the offer to come from Lex.”
“Me neither,” I say. “He’s got a brilliant head on his shoulders. Most of the time…oh. Was it to keep the trip chaste?”
Lex snorts. “You leave that to me, Mrs. Wright.”
He is having a hard time sitting back in the lounge chair. When he goes to resituate, his shorts hike up to showcase his thick, hairy thighs. The urge to straddle his lap and scratch his glasses right off that handsome face is barely rearing its head.
Somewhat, Lex is a grandma’s boy. Willing to be naughty. Strategic.
I like the cut of his jib.
Still, I zero in on the most precious human being in my life, my now twenty-two-year-old son—who is as sweet as he is gorgeous, courtesy of yours truly. He has dark blue eyes and the ability to make his way through school on a soccer scholarship, which is probably how he roped Lex into tutoring him in organic chemistry during undergrad.
In other words, my baby is no slouch—but he’s also most definitely oblivious to my plans to bang his best friend six ways to Sunday.
“You ready for the spa, darling?” I fluff his hair. “You’re going to meet your destiny on this trip. Didn’t you say I was your Good Luck Charm? I’m still your lucky penny.”
Tanner beams and flicks my forehead. “I thought you were coming to get charmed out of your you-know-whats. Japan is full of hot springs and healing properties.” He nods at Lex. “My mother made a spontaneous comment one night about going to Japan to heal her menopause and get back in the game. And you agreed the minivan deserves a couple laps around the block. So I used my computer skills to find the best damn healing hot springs in Japan.”
I tug my collar and whisper, “I didn’t know Lex was a pervert.”
Tanner chokes on his sake.
Across the table, Lex coughs into his shoulder. “Just looking out for my favorite lady, T.”
Tanner makes a puking noise. I love my son. I do. But it’s hard not to slip my hand into Lex’s
