Sis Promises to Pull Out

“I showed up at Kiera’s apartment with a suitcase and a bruised ego, and she took one look at me and said, ‘She dumped you, didn’t she.’”

I groaned dramatically and rolled my eyes. “Why would that be your first guess? Not like... I wanted to spend a night in the city with my big sis.”

She had that annoying self-satisfied smirk. “So, I’m right, aren’t I?”

“Yes,” I gritted.

Why did I even come here? The real reason was I had to get out of the apartment I was sharing with my now ex-girlfriend Lila. I could have stayed, technically. We have another month on the lease and it’s just as much mine as hers. Still, I couldn’t stand being around her when she was already lining up dates days after she broke up with me. Plus, I wasn’t about to go live with Mom and Dad and get a bunch of grief about how this sort of thing shouldn’t be happening now I’m 25. I collapsed into the armchair and sighed. Kiera laughed. “I’m kidding. Okay, I get it, you’re grumpy. But I’m also serious. If I have to cancel my date, then I want the tea. Why did she break up with you?”

My annoyance got stronger. I glared at her, not saying anything, and crossed my arms over my chest. Kiera looked so relaxed sprawled out like that. I wondered how she did it. How she did all of this. My eyes tracked up her body. She was wearing black jeans that were tighter around her thighs and hips, making her bulge visible. I looked away quickly, landing on the strip of bare skin just under her tank top that was struggling to contain her tits.

“Helllooo? Earth to little sis.” She clicked her fingers. “Stop checking me out and answer me.”

I sat up straight and huffed loudly. “I was NOT checking you out.” Jesus.

Kiera seemed to know she’d pushed her teasing too far. Her face softened slightly and she beckoned me over with her hand. I reluctantly got
