David was certain that the elderly man’s speed was not the cause of his sudden appearance. It was clear that he possessed the ability to teleport, instantly materializing in front of David within a fraction of a second. He believed the elderly man had demonstrated the teleportation magecraft and was amazed by his impeccable execution. Anxiousness crept in, causing David to feel increasingly unsettled.
The elderly man glanced at David before raising his hand. All of a sudden, David lost control of his body and began floating in mid-air. He was too powerless to retaliate!
At that moment, David remained perplexed about the extent of the elderly man’s power.
“What a gorgeous body. I want to taste how delicious your flesh is.” The elderly man smirked.
David struggled to breathe as the air grew suffocating. He struggled to break free from the invisible restraints!
Yet, while he was struggling, the elderly man froze for a moment, and the smirk on his face vanished. He stared straight at the Dragon Ring in David’s hand.
David glanced at his expression before turning his attention to the Dragon Ring. He was taken aback by the elderly man’s reaction. Could he be a member of Dragon Sect?
Just as David pondered the question, the restraints on his body were suddenly released, and he landed safely on the ground.
The elderly man prostrated before him in fear. “My Lord, I am your humble servant, Yashur Songscloud. I’m so sorry, for I had no idea you were here, My Lord. I’m so sorry!”
The elderly man continued to bow before David, his expression filled with terror and his body trembling uncontrollably.
David looked at the elderly man and did not know how to react. Why is he trembling in fear? Just because I’m the overlord of Dragon Sect and possess the Dragon Ring? With his capabilities, he could have easily taken me down. Why is he terrified of me?
“Do you belong to one of Dragon Sect’s regiments?” David tested the waters by asking the question.
Yashur bobbed his head in response. “That’s right. I’ve been waiting here for you for more than two decades, My Lord.”
“Come. Get up.” David told Yashur to stand. He then asked him another question, “Are you alone on this island? And are you the only member of the regiment?”
David knew Dragon Sect consisted of thirteen regiments, each with a group of men. However, he noticed Yashur was the sole member of his regiment.
“I’m the only person here on the island, My Lord, but within my regiment, I have a team under my command.” After speaking, Yashur made a peculiar sound with his mouth.
David recognized the sound immediately. He had heard it before when he was in the sea, and it was the same sound that dispersed the demon beasts that were approaching him.
As the sound escaped Yashur’s mouth, the sea surface churned with monstrous waves!
The demon beasts, one after another, emerged from the sea. Some even leaped out from beneath the waves.
David’s jaw dropped when he saw the demon beasts. He asked, “Are they your subordinates?”
“That’s right. But they’re your subordinates now, My Lord. I’ve been taming these demon beasts over the last twenty years,” Yashur explained.
David could not help but feel awkward. The demon beasts that he had been trying to kill were all his subordinates. So all this while I’ve been fighting against creatures in my service!
Sensing the embarrassment on David’s face, Yashur said, “All the demon beasts belong to you, My Lord. If you need them for cultivation, I can have them expel their beast cores…”
“That’s not necessary…” David waved his hand, dismissing his idea. Even if all these beast cores were combined, they wouldn’t significantly enhance my cultivation anyway.
Nonetheless, David could not help but imagine the awe-inspiring spectacle that would unfold if he were to sail across the sea accompanied by these Martial Arts God-level demon beasts.
“My Lord, I’ll teach you how to control these demon beasts now.” Yashur proceeded to share his knowledge with David.
After acquiring the technique, David wasted no time in testing his command. To his delight, he discovered that the demon beasts obediently followed his orders, and this filled him with excitement.
—
“What cultivation level are you in now,
Yashur? Are you confident in dealing with those families in the hidden realm?” David wanted to gauge Yashur’s capabilities. After all, the elderly man had rendered him powerless during their earlier encounter.
David just wanted to exterminate the people from the hidden realm since they were going after him.
“I’m now an Eighth Level Martial Arts Sovereign, My Lord. As long as those families from the hidden realm don’t team up with each other, eliminating them will be a walk in the park. And if they dare cross the sea and come over, I can easily take them down even if they unite,” Yashur said to David.
David was struck dumb when he heard that. So he’s an Eighth Level Martial Arts Sovereign. No wonder I felt powerless before him.
As a Martial Arts God, David recognized the disparity in power between himself and Yashur. While he might be able to confront someone who had recently attained the Martial Arts Sovereign level, he knew he was no match for an experienced warrior at that level. Thank God Yashur is my subordinate.
Otherwise, I would have been dead by now!
“If that’s the case, if you eventually become a spiritual energy cultivator, does it mean you can cultivate using the spiritual energy and the resources residing within your elixir field?” David inquired.
Yashur shook his head. “My Lord, you may not be aware, but being a spiritual energy cultivator doesn’t solely depend on the production of spiritual energy in our body. Some cultivators would focus on Body Cultivation, while some on Energy Cultivation. Those with extraordinary talents can even pursue both paths simultaneously! The aura emitted by those who focus on Body
Cultivation is known as martial energy, which flows through their muscles and joints. In simple terms, it represents the overall strength. On the other hand, in Energy Cultivation, we activate the elixir field and store spiritual energy within it. When necessary, we can gather and unleash that stored spiritual energy.
To provide a clearer analogy, think of Energy Cultivation and Body
Cultivation as different martial arts styles, with spiritual energy cultivators and martial artists pursuing their respective paths. While their methods may differ, their ultimate aspiration is to attain immortality. In other words, I can still advance to the next level or become immortal without relying on the spiritual energy in our surroundings. I’m not sure how much you can understand what I’m trying to explain here, My Lord.”
Upon listening to Yashur’s explanation, David felt he could understand the logic to a certain extent but could not fully grasp the idea.
Yashur flashed a faint grin after seeing the look on David’s face. “Let me try explaining it again, My Lord. Even in a scenario where the earth is devoid of spiritual energy or has exhausted its resources, I possess the ability to continue my cultivation and strive towards immortality.”
Realization instantly dawned on David when he heard that. This means martial artists do not need to alter their cultivation
path to achieve Breakthrough. They can still cultivate based on the spiritual energy present in the world. If an individual is in a place abundant with spiritual energy, the person can cultivate using the spiritual energy from the surroundings. However, considering the current scarcity of spiritual energy in today’s world, it seems Yashur’s cultivation method would be more suitable.
Meanwhile, Flaxseed and the others were approaching. Earlier, they had been blown to the other side of the island by that terrifying force.
They were so worried about David that they rushed over.
“Stop calling me My Lord anymore. My name is David Chance. You can call me Mr. Chance,” David immediately said to Yashur when he saw Flaxseed and the others running in his direction.
David did not want the others to know about Dragon Sect because he had yet to figure out what kind of organization it was.
Flaxseed and the others hurriedly approached, expecting David and Yashur to be locked in a fierce battle. To their astonishment, they found the two standing together, engaged in a seemingly calm conversation.
“Hey, come over here, guys. This is Yashur Songscloud. We’ve had a little tussle earlier and got to know each other a bit,” David immediately explained to Flaxseed and the others to avoid any misunderstanding.
“I sincerely apologize for any offense caused earlier. Please forgive me,” Yashur apologized to Flaxseed and the others right away.
The fact that a highly skilled expert like Yashur humbly sought their forgiveness left them bewildered for a moment.
—
“We’re sorry for the intrusion, Mr. Songscloud!” Flaxseed and the rest quickly nodded and bowed.
“There’s nothing worth offering on this deserted island. But these demon beasts are tasty when roasted.” Yashur proceeded to prepare the meat for David and the others to eat.
Confused, Flaxseed walked over to David and asked, “What’s going on, David?”
David pretended to be clueless and responded, “What do you mean?”
“Why is he suddenly so nice to us?” Flaxseed queried.
“I don’t know. Maybe he was just impressed with my skills,” David teased.
Flaxseed rolled his eyes at David, knowing that it wasn’t the real reason.
But if David didn’t want to talk about it, he wasn’t going to push for an answer.
Soon enough, the meal was ready, and David and his companions began to eat.
Meanwhile, Tucker and his followers from Stormwind Sect had arrived at the mountain range near the sea.
Joining them was Sonyx Raven, the deadliest assassin from Flying Star Sect. He’s ranked higher than the elders in his own sect. It was clear that Wrey had sent Sonyx to kill David.
Tucker gazed out at the vast ocean before him, his eyes narrowing slightly.
“Tucker, I know that David killed Emiliano Fairchild. Did Hugh send you to avenge his death? What if you find that you’re no match for him and end up getting killed instead?” Sonyx sneered.
Tucker merely snorted and remained silent because he was aware that Sonyx was the secret weapon assassin of Flying Star Sect. Nobody knew his true strength, but it was certainly not inferior to his own. Seeing Tucker’s lack of response, Sonyx decided not to provoke him further.
He turned to the sea and continued, “That man must have taken the sea route. However, this area is filled with demon beasts, and there’s an old freak blocking the way. They can’t escape for sure.”
Sonyx turned to his disciples and instructed, “Cut some trees and make rafts. We’ll catch up with them.”
Soon, Flying Star Sect got into action, planning to pursue through the waterway.
Meanwhile, Tucker continued to stare out at the sea with a grave expression. He knew the peril of the sea, but the memory of Emiliano’s tragic death haunted him.
Finally, he made up his mind to take action. “Cut down the trees and make rafts,” he ordered the disciples of Stormwind Sect.
Tucker was determined to set sail and hunt for David to avenge his son.
As the disciples of the two sects embarked on their sea pursuit, a group from Scorching Heaven Sect arrived at the scene. From a distance, Yona gazed at Tucker and Sonyx, and a smirk spread across his face.
“Chasing after him on the sea? What fools. Even if they manage to avoid the demon beasts, they’ll never be able to defeat David. Elgado, a top-level Martial Arts God, couldn’t even match his strength. How could these two possibly stand a chance against him?” Yona knew David’s true power well, as Elgado had personally spoken about it to him.
However, Flying Star Sect and Stormwind Sect were still clueless about David’s powers. They thought he was only at the beginner phase of Martial Arts God.
“Lord Green, what should we do? Should we also go after them?” a disciple from Scorching Heaven Sect asked.
“Anyone who dares set foot in this sea is courting death. Let’s turn back. David won’t survive because no one can escape from this place.” Yona gestured for his men to depart, convinced that David’s demise was inevitable.
Yona did not dare to claim that he could survive in this sea area with his current cultivation. Hence, if he couldn’t make it, David had no chance either.
One of the disciples inquired with curiosity, “Lord Green, is it true that there are demon beasts in the sea? Are they actually so dangerous that everyone from the hidden realm fears them?”
—
Yona’s eyes revealed a tinge of fear as he spoke. “That old monster is the most powerful being I’ve ever encountered. I was probably the one person who ever escaped successfully, and that was over a decade ago…”
The man was once targeted by all the sects in the hidden realm, and the entire Scorching Heaven Sect was on the verge of eradication. With no place else to go, he set his sights on the sea, hoping to find a foothold there.
He took hundreds of followers and set sail, planning to find a deserted island to establish their own base.
However, they encountered demon beasts on the sea, barely managing to escape alive. They eventually stumbled upon a small island, only to be met by a strange old man who attacked them with lethal force.
His moves were fierce and deadly, and Yona’s men fell one by one until there were none left. Yona, however, took advantage of the chaos and jumped into the sea, saving his own life.
Over a decade had passed, but Yona still vividly remembered the encounter. Hence, he was afraid to venture into the sea.
Meanwhile, Tucker and Sonyx were sailing on the sea. When they saw the sea area littered with demon beast corpses and the water stained red, they knew a fierce battle had just occurred.
“David must be nearby. These demon beasts were killed not long ago. Quick, let’s pursue him.” Tucker ordered his men to speed up the ship.
Sonyx followed suit, commanding his men to increase their speed forward. Roar!
Suddenly, a loud roar echoed throughout the sea, like thunder shaking the entire ocean!
Upon hearing this, Tucker and Sonyx were momentarily stunned. They knew they had encountered a demon beast.
Despite the situation, fear was the last thing on their minds. In fact, they were ecstatic, for the demon beast’s inner core held immense value.
At the same time, David and his companions were relishing the roasted meat when they heard the thunderous roar.
Yashur’s face contorted into a grim expression, and his eyes shone with a fierce glint. “Who dares to enter this area and court death?”
David recognized the roar as a warning signal from the demon beasts. It meant that someone had trespassed. He also surmised that the intruders were likely after him. However, he wasn’t sure which sect they belonged to.
“These people must be here to hunt me down,” David remarked coolly. Yashur’s murderous intent grew stronger when he heard that. “They dare to hurt Mr. Chance? I shall go and kill them now,” he declared.
As he rose to his feet, Yashur was halted in his tracks by David.
“Hold on, Yashur. Let me see who dares to pursue me. If I am defeated, then you may intervene,” David proposed.
He decided to take on his pursuers alone, and should he be overpowered, he would have Yashur’s help to defeat them.
Now that he had Yashur’s support, David no longer feared any of the sects from the hidden realm.
Yashur nodded in agreement. “All right. Please send me a signal if you are in danger, Mr. Chance.”
After reaching an agreement, David headed toward the coast to summon the demonic beasts using the method Yashur taught him.
Mounting a tiger whale beast, he quickly made his way to the source of the deafening roar.
Meanwhile, Tucker and Sonyx were engaged in a dispute over the spoils of a slain demonic beast.
“Sonyx, I was the one who killed this beast. Therefore, the beast core should belong to me,” argued Tucker.
“The beast would have escaped if I didn’t injure it. You attacked me when I wasn’t paying attention,” Sonyx retorted solemnly.
As the two groups argued over the possession of the beast core, tensions mounted, and it seemed like a fight was about to break out.
Suddenly, a massive wave appeared in the distance, rapidly approaching the shore.
As Tucker and Sonyx turned their attention toward the disturbance, they saw numerous massive demon beasts swimming under the water. Their colossal frames caused the waves to surge and crash toward the shore.
—
The looks on their faces were frozen when they saw all those demon beasts.
What shocked them the most was the figure that was standing atop a tiger whale beast.
As they got closer, Tucker recognized that figure as none other than David himself.
“It’s David Chance! I can’t believe he’s still here!” he exclaimed with bloodshot eyes.
The sight of David reminded him of his son’s death and got his blood boiling with rage.
Sonyx, however, frowned as he couldn’t understand what was going on. Not only is David with the demon beasts, but he also appears to be in command of them! Not a single one of those demon beasts is attacking him!
As David made his way toward Tucker and Sonyx, he saw the carcass of the demon beast that made the distress call floating on the surface of the water.
Because these demon beasts had become David’s subordinates and were a part of Dragon Sect, David got mad when he realized they had killed the poor creature.
As David only knew Tucker, he turned toward Sonyx and asked, “Who are you? Were you guys the ones who killed this demon beast?”
Sonyx couldn’t help but shudder when he sensed David’s intense aura despite his young age.
“I am Sonyx Raven of Flying Star Sect. Are you David Chance, the guy who killed Mr. Lindt?” Sonyx responded.
“You mean that femboy? I’m not the one who killed him, but it’s only a matter of time before I do anyway,” David replied nonchalantly.
Sonyx got mad when he heard David’s reply. His eyes narrowed, and a surge of murderous intent came flowing out of his body.
“You insolent b*stard! I’ll kill you and avenge Mr. Lindt!” Sonyx yelled furiously as his aura created huge ripples across the ocean surface.
“Hmph! You guys had the audacity to kill my demon beast, so I would have come after your lives anyway!” David retorted defiantly as he unleashed his aura and prepared for battle.
“These demon beasts are from the ocean, so how could you claim them as your own? Just how shameless can you get? Well, I suppose we should be thanking you for delivering so many of them to us! The beast cores that I will get from them should be of huge help to my cultivation!” Tucker said coldly.
“Feel free to try and take their beast cores if you can.”
David then made a strange noise with his mouth. Soon, dozens of demon beasts got all riled up on the spot as though they had received a command from him.
Deafening roars echoed throughout the area as the demon beasts charged at Stormwind Sect and Flying Star Sect’s men.
Those were Martial Arts God cultivation level demon beasts that had been living in the ocean, so they had the advantage of being in their natural habitat.
The two groups of people began to panic when faced with the demon beasts’ attack. It wasn’t long before their screams of anguish filled the sky, and the water was stained red with their blood.
Tucker’s eyes were filled with a mix of confusion and murderous intent as he watched Stormwind Sect’s disciples die one after another.
Why are these demon beasts obeying David’s commands? No, now isn’t the time to be worrying about that!
“Die, David!” Tucker yelled at the top of his lungs as he whipped out a long sword and slashed at David.
As though he had thought of something, Sonyx chose to attack a demon beast aggressively instead of David. However, he made sure to keep David and Tucker within his sight at all times.
David has already exceeded my expectations by being able to control dozens of demon beasts. I need to adjust my strategy according to the situation! If things go bad, I’ll have my men retreat with me. We’re at a huge disadvantage if we fight on the ocean, but these demon beasts are at their strongest.
Despite Tucker’s high cultivation level, David felt no fear whatsoever when dealing with his attacks.
Having defeated Elgado, a Top Level Ninth Level Martial Arts God from Scorching Heaven Sect, David was confident that he could easily defeat Tucker, who had just become a Ninth Level Martial Arts God.
With a slight twist of his body, David was able to dodge Tucker’s incoming blade.
Tucker froze in shock as he didn’t expect David to dodge his attack so effortlessly.
“Ten Thousand Swords Slash!” Tucker yelled.
Countless energy blades came out of the sword in his hand and headed straight for David.
David adjusted his aura and snapped his fingers, firing bursts of martial energy at the energy blades.
Boom!
A deafening explosion rang out and shook the space around it, forming huge waves on the ocean surface.
David didn’t even need Dragonslayer Sword to fight Tucker. Instead, he was able to deal with Tucker using only his bare fists.
The look on Tucker’s face grew solemn as he narrowed his eyes and glared at David.
Sonyx, who had been fighting a demon beast, was just as shocked when he saw David fight Tucker with his bare hands.
“You dare come after me for revenge when you’re that weak?” David asked with a sneer and gently grabbed at the ocean surface with his right hand. A pillar of water rose and turned into a spear within David’s hand. Tucker could even see a stream of air surging around the tip of the spear.
As David hurled the spear at Tucker, the momentum generated so much force that it created a gigantic whirlpool around them.
Tucker’s face clouded over when he saw that. He did not expect a Third Level Martial Arts God like David to have such a powerful aura.
With his teeth tightly clenched, Tucker slashed at the incoming spear and shattered it on the spot.
Huh… As terrifying as David’s aura may be, his attacks aren’t as powerful as they seem!
Right as Tucker was about to mouth off gleefully, however, the shattered spear rebuilt itself and continued flying toward him.
Realizing that he would not have time to dodge the incoming attack, Tucker could only block it with his sword.
Boom!
The impact sent Tucker flying in an instant and left a dent in his sword.
Ripples formed on the ocean surface as Tucker flew a few hundred meters backward before coming to a halt.
His aura depleted rapidly as he coughed up a mouthful of blood.
The martial artists of Stormwind Sect began to panic when they saw that. If Tucker is no match for David, then there’s no way we’d stand a chance against him!
Sonyx’s eyes went wide with shock and disbelief.
What? David wounded Tucker severely with just one blow? That huge difference in power is definitely not something I can handle! There’s no way David is only a Third Level Martial Arts God! He has got to be at least a Martial Arts Sovereign!
Their assumption of David being a Third Level Martial Arts God was what led to him wiping the floor with them.
Sonyx felt glad that he had decided to observe the situation before attacking David. Otherwise, a mere Top Level Ninth Level Martial Arts God like himself would never stand a chance against David.
“Let’s go!”
Sonyx shouted as he ordered his men to retreat.
The guys from Stormwind Sect wanted to leave too, but they were locked in combat with the demon beasts.
—
“Don’t even think about leaving now that you’re here!” David yelled as a strong murderous intent formed in his eyes.
The next thing they knew, a huge wave that was dozens of meters tall appeared on the ocean surface. A second later, the gigantic wave came down on the fleeing members of Flying Star Sect. Inside that gigantic wave were thousands of arrows, all of which contained David’s ridiculously powerful spiritual energy.
It didn’t matter if the martial artists from Flying Star Sect were Martial Arts Saints or Martial Arts Gods. The arrows went right through their bodies and killed them all regardless.
The ocean surface was stained red in an instant. Sonyx’s eyes were filled with fear when he saw that his men were all dead. All he could do was fully unleash his aura and shield himself with it.
He was so focused on ensuring his own survival and getting out of there that he couldn’t even be bothered to worry about anyone else.
At that very moment, Sonyx truly regretted agreeing to kill David.
He never expected a martial artist from outside the hidden realm to be as powerful as a Martial Arts Sovereign.
Sonyx was able to escape with his injuries, but the men he had brought over had all died at sea.
Instead of chasing after Sonyx, David slowly walked across the ocean surface and made his way toward Tucker.
Fear and terror were all that filled Tucker’s eyes as he watched David approach him.
After all, he had just witnessed all of Sonyx’s men die while trying to escape from David.
Sonyx was a lot more powerful than he was, so Tucker knew he was as good as dead for attempting to fight David.
So, this is why Sonyx chose not to attack! He was observing the fight to assess David’s strength!
“P-Please don’t kill me, David!” Tucker pleaded with David out of fear.
“You tried to kill me even though I had left you alone, so why should I spare you?” David asked coldly.
“I was only trying to avenge my son! You said it was Elgado of Scorching Heaven Sect who killed him, right? Well, I believe you now! I’ll have
Stormwind Sect destroy Scorching Heaven Sect! I promise not to bother you ever again!” Tucker exclaimed.
David stared Tucker in the eye. “Emiliano is your son?” Tucker nodded without saying anything in response.
David’s lips curled into a faint smile as he said, “Very well, then. I will spare your life, but you will still be punished for trying to kill me.”
The next thing Tucker knew, David kicked him in the arm and broke it on the spot.
Tucker’s forehead was drenched in cold sweat as an intense pain tore through his body, but he simply endured it without making a sound.
He didn’t mind having his arm broken as he could heal it with genetic modification later. His main priority at the moment was simply to stay alive.
“You may leave now, but keep in mind that it was Elgado of Scorching Heaven Sect who killed your son. Emiliano’s death had nothing to do with me,” David said as he jumped onto a nearby demon beast and rode off at full speed.
Tucker gritted his teeth and endured the intense pain as he dragged himself ashore.
In the meantime, Sonyx had also been badly wounded and was making his way through the mountains near the ocean.
I’m incredibly lucky to be able to escape with my life. I must return to Flying Star Sect and tell Wrey that David is far more powerful than they imagined!
With that in mind, Sonyx was about to continue on his journey when a bunch of people blocked his path.
Sonyx’s face went pale the moment he looked up and saw who they were.
“Y-Yona?”
His eyes were filled with terror, and his body was trembling in fear.
Yona was the head of Scorching Heaven Sect, which bore a grudge against the sects of the hidden realm. As such, Sonyx knew that he was in trouble when Yona and his men had blocked his path.
—
“To think that the greatest fighter of Flying Star Sect would be bested by a nobody from outside the hidden realm… How embarrassing!” Yona said with a faint smile.
“How did you know?” Sonyx asked in confusion.
We were fighting David out at sea, and not many know about our plan to kill him, so how did he know?
“Of course, I’d know! I also know that you wanted to kill David to avenge Mr. Lindt. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to avenge Mr. Lindt even if you succeeded in killing David!” Yona said with a sneer.
“Why is that?” Sonyx’s face scrunched up in confusion. A few seconds later, he recalled what David said.
He mentioned something about Elgado of Scorching Heaven Sect killing Emiliano. Given what Yona has just told me, it would seem that David was telling the truth!
Sonyx narrowed his eyes as he said coldly, “So, it was you b*stards from Scorching Heaven Sect who killed Mr. Lindt!”
“That’s right! Our elder killed Emiliano and Avery by absorbing their power! Well, it’s too late for you to do anything about it now!” Yona said as he swung at Sonyx.
Sonyx tried to dodge his attack, but he was too badly wounded to react in time. Just like that, Yona killed him in a single slap.
“Dump his body into the ocean. This way, Flying Star Sect will go after David for sure!” he said with a sneer and stared coldly at Sonyx’s corpse before leaving.
Meanwhile, David had just returned to the island.
Flaxseed ran up to him and asked, “Are you all right, David?”
“Why wouldn’t I be? I went there with dozens of demon beasts and crushed them all!” David replied gleefully.
He felt great just thinking about how cool he looked while leading the demon beasts into battle.
“That does sound kind of fun. Could you teach me how to control these demon beasts? I want to give it a shot!” Flaxseed said excitedly.
“Forget it. We’re heading back right now!”
The Secret Realm Conference was about to begin, so David needed to rush over as soon as possible. He didn’t have time to fool around with Flaxseed.
Flaxseed had no choice but to contain his curiosity for the time being.
After saying their goodbyes, David had Archer and Skyler head back and prepared to return to Jadeborough.
David had just departed from the island when he noticed a faint light coming from the ocean surface.
“Look over there, Mr. Flaxseed! What do you think that is?” David asked while pointing in the direction of the light.
“What are you talking about? I don’t see anything!” Flaxseed replied. “Something is glowing there! Do you not see the light?” David was confused as to why Flaxseed couldn’t see the light.
“What light?” With a puzzled frown on his face, Flaxseed turned toward Godrick and asked, “Godrick, do you see any light?”
Godrick shook his head. “Nope!”
“See? Even he doesn’t see this light that you’re talking about. You must be imagining it!” Flaxseed said.
The light was faint, but David knew for a fact that he could see it.
He then headed in the direction of the light, but Flaxseed and Godrick were still unable to see it.
David found it strange that he was the only person who could see that light.
“Wait here, you two. I’ll go and have a look,” David said.
He was planning to go underwater and see where the light was coming from.
“I don’t see anything, but I’ll go with you just in case.”
Flaxseed wanted to go underwater with David and see if he would find the source of the light.
Just like that, David and Flaxseed dove into the water.
—
After David and Flaxseed got into the water, they continuously swam downward. As they descended further down the sea, their surroundings grew dimmer and soon turned pitch-black.
“David, it’s so dark here. Where’s the shiny thing you mentioned?”
Scanning his surroundings, Flaxseed felt nervous and gripped the corner of David’s clothes tightly.
Meanwhile, David unleashed his aura, creating a shield around them as their bodies plummeted.
“Don’t tell me you can’t see the light source?” David asked Flaxseed in surprise.
“I really can’t see it. This whole place is pitch dark. If there were light, I would’ve noticed it early on. Stop scaring me!” Flaxseed looked around him and grimaced.
David furrowed his brows in silence while he continued moving toward the source of light. I don’t get it. Why can’t Flaxseed see it? Why am I the only one who can see the light?
They plunged deeper into the sea and arrived at a narrow ravine not long after. Staring at the gloomy and oppressive ravine, Flaxseed started to regret his decision to follow David there.
Unfortunately, at that point, he could only desperately hold on to the corner of David’s clothes and press on with the dive.
After an unknown amount of time passed, the initially inky environment suddenly lit up.
“What’s that?” Flaxseed shouted as he could also see the radiance now.
David looked at the source of luminosity and noticed a glowing white skeleton.
David was baffled by the existence of a skeleton in the depths of the ocean. Moreover, why is the skeleton alight?
They moved closer and realized the skeleton was actually glistening and translucent, shining brightly like crystals.
“Is this a real skeleton or one made from crystal?”
Flaxseed crouched down and inspected their finding.
The skeleton was complete, as even its finger bones were still intact and visible. However, the presence of the skeleton there was rather puzzling.
Upon scrutinizing the skeleton, David suddenly discovered some special markings on its skull. He hurriedly squatted down and examined the skull. To David’s astonishment, an intricate network of lines and labels was engraved on the skull.
“Mr. Flaxseed, check this out. What do you think this is?”
David called Flaxseed over to study the unique markings on the skull.
Upon closer investigation, Flaxseed exclaimed joyfully, “This seems to be a map. Could it be a treasure map? Don’t you think this resembles Kazillion Mountains? Also, here and here.”
Flaxseed pointed out some trails on the skull to David. After hearing Flaxseed’s insights, David realized it was indeed a map with some specially labeled spots. He figured it must be a map depicting directions to a specific ancient ruin filled with treasures.
After all, thousands of years ago, the earth was populated with countless spiritual energy-cultivating sects. Hence, the existence of such treasure-loaded ancient ruins was just an ordinary occurrence.
“But who is this? I can’t believe he carved a treasure map on his own skull. And how did his remains end up here?” David asked.
“How would I know? However, this skeleton most likely appeared here because this person was murdered at sea, and his corpse was casually tossed and ended up here. In addition, due to the influence of the underwater environment, the bones underwent crystallization and turned into this state. To think that you managed to perceive the light from the sea surface, this might just be the work of fate!”
Flaxseed couldn’t explain the origin of that skeleton either, nor could he fathom why someone would carve the treasure map on his skull. After all, a normal person wouldn’t do something like that.
—
David nodded. Then, he put away the skull in his Storage Ring before burying the rest of the skeleton with the sand and silt on the ocean floor. Regardless of who this person was, he could now rest in peace.
David didn’t plan to follow the markings on the skull to search for ancient ruins or treasures at that moment because he didn’t have the time to spare. He needed to hurry back to Jadeborough to participate in the Secret Realm Conference.
“David, Mr. Flaxseed, did you find anything?” Godrick asked curiously when he saw David and Flaxseed return from under the sea.
“Nothing much, just a skeleton. If I had known, I wouldn’t have tagged along,” Flaxseed said.
“Let’s get going, then. We need to get back to Jadeborough as soon as possible!” Godrick urged.
After they came ashore, the gang boarded an airplane to fly back to Jadeborough.
While David and the others were rushing back to Jadeborough, the atmosphere within Stormwind Sect was subdued and tense.
Tucker returned to Stormwind Sect with injuries. He reported the circumstances to Hugh. After learning David’s abilities had surpassed the Top Level of Ninth Level Martial Arts God, Hugh’s expression turned grim. “Tucker, Tucker!” At that moment, Hugh’s wife ran over anxiously. “Tucker, I heard you were wounded. Are you all right? How did you lose to an upstart?”
“I’m fine.” Tucker shook his head.
Hugh watched as his wife expressed great concern for Tucker, his eyes filled with intense rage. Still, he suppressed his anger. “Tucker, this is a Healing Pill. Take it and get some rest.”
Hugh took out a green pill and handed it to Tucker.
“Thank you, Hugh.” Tucker received the pill gratefully and consumed it without hesitation.
A sneer spread across Hugh’s face after he saw Tucker swallow the pill. A few moments later, Tucker felt his internal organs churn. Immediately afterward, excruciating pain erupted within him.
Tucker spat out a mouthful of blood before falling to the ground, his eyes riveted on Hugh in incredulity. “Hugh, w-what did you give me?”
“That was an Intestine-crushing Pill. Anyone who took it would face inevitable death!” Hugh replied while wearing a frosty smile.
“Tucker, Tucker!” Hugh’s wife called out in perturbation before glaring at Hugh angrily. “Hugh, what are you doing?”
“What am I doing? Of course, I’m killing him.” Hugh snorted. “Why, Hugh? Why are you doing this?” Tucker asked as he was puzzled. “You still have the audacity to ask me why?” Hugh narrowed his eyes. His fury instantaneously burst forth. “You’re a shameless couple who have been cheating on me behind my back. Do you think I was unaware of your betrayal? That Emiliano was your child. Don’t assume I didn’t know he was completely unrelated to me. I sent him to the ancient ruins of Narcissus Palace because I knew that place was dangerous, and he would most likely be sacrificed there. Unexpectedly, he really died. I couldn’t be happier with that outcome. Moreover, I instructed you to hunt down David with the intention of letting him do away with you. Unfortunately, he failed to kill you and merely allowed you to return with grave injuries. He might not have killed you, but I still won’t let you live. After enduring this shame for so many years, I can finally tear you two into pieces!”
Hugh’s aura rapidly intensified and extended to engulf the duo before him. Color drained from Tucker’s face as he realized their adulterous act had been exposed.
Hugh’s wife also hastily begged for mercy. “Hugh, I was wrong. Please don’t kill me. I promise I won’t repeat the same mistake…”
“Hmph! You want me to spare you, but you two were already plotting to assassinate me. Your schemes could never escape my eyes! Go to hell, you shameless couple!”
Hugh waved his hand, and an enormous force instantly crushed his wife and Tucker into a pile of bloody pulp.
Looking at his wife and sworn brother, who had suffered terrible deaths, Hugh remained unpacified. He continued thrusting his fists, eventually demolishing the entire room.
Familiar “Dad…” Garthor was stunned when he saw how insane-looking Hugh was. The moment Hugh spotted Garthor, he withdrew his aura and said, “Garthor, I want you to bring people with you to capture and kill anyone with close ties to Tucker.”
Upon detecting his father’s rage, Garthor nodded instead of asking any more questions. “Roger!”
Then, Hugh slowly levitated into the air as he watched Stormwind Sect descend into carnage.
…
Meanwhile, David and the others had returned to Jadeborough.
Everyone was overjoyed to see how Flaxseed and Godrick had recovered. The first thing Flaxseed did after returning was drag Jessica into a room. It wasn’t difficult for anyone to guess what they did next.
“Mr. Gunderson visited us a few times when you were away, David. It seems like he has something urgent to speak to you about,” informed Cecilia.
During the period David was gone, Cecilia took care of Deragon Sect pretty well. “I know. Thanks for your hard work.” David peered at her, somewhat feeling bad. Cecilia came all the way here to look for me, yet I barely spend any time with her! I’m sincerely touched by her efforts. She helped me tend Deragon Sect, yet she never complained about it.
“It wasn’t hard at all when I think about the fact that I’m doing this for you.” Cecilia smiled.
A complicated expression settled on David’s countenance as he apologized, “You should know that I’ll be marrying Josephine in the future. So, if you continue to be with me, you may not have an official status as my spouse.” If only I could change the monogamous ideals that modern society upholds. Otherwise, I could’ve married them both.
“I don’t mind as long as you still love me.” Gently, Cecilia leaned on David’s shoulder.
In response, he silently held her waist and stared at the blue sky.
David only stayed in Deragon Sect briefly before heading to Divine Quest Sect to check out how Josephine and Renee were doing.
Upon entering the secret realm, David was shocked by the scene. It was because he saw two more women in addition to Josephine and the other two.
One of the newcomers was the woman David saved from Evil Heart Sect. When the woman saw David, she was equally shocked. Without delay, Josephine bolted toward David joyously. “David!”
“What’s the deal with them, Josephine?” David pointed at the two newcomers. “Both of them were captured here as well. This one’s called Calanthe. She’s incredible and possesses a special physique. She can control—”
David interrupted, “I know. She has an earthly constituent, granting her the ability to control the earth.”
His words stunned Josephine momentarily before she asked in disbelief, “You’re amazing, David! How did you figure it out just by looking at her?” “He’s not that awesome. We’ve already met before, you see,” clarified Calanthe. “What? You two know each other?” Josephine was even more dumbfounded. “I didn’t expect the boyfriend you constantly bring up to be him, Josephine! He saved my life once!” After Calanthe ended her sentence, she recounted the story of being pursued by Black Gold Robe and how David saved her. Back then, she was afraid and didn’t know what David’s name was.
Meanwhile, David didn’t learn her name as well.
When Josephine heard that, realization dawned upon her. “What a coincidence!”
Then she introduced the other newcomer, who also had a unique physique. Puzzled, David wondered why Evil Heart Sect captured so many people with extraordinary physiques. I know they’re up to no good by doing this, but I don’t know what exactly they’re planning, so I’ve no idea how to stop them! However, I need to attend the Secret Realm Conference before making my next move.
After he chatted with the women for a while, he left.
—
Right after David left the secret realm, he visited the Gunderson residence. I bet Chester has already gotten all anxious while waiting for me.
Indeed, when Fernando saw him, the former immediately approached him.
“You’re finally back, Mr. Chance! Great Elder was really worried!”
“Aren’t there a few days left until the Secret Realm Conference, Mr. Gunderson? Why are you so anxious?” inquired David, slightly astounded. “Because only a limited number of people is allowed to attend the Secret Realm Conference! Within Gate of Fire, a few sects disagree with Great Elder’s decision to take you there,” explained Fernando.
“Oh, I see. In that case, let’s go!” David nodded.
Soon, they arrived at the entrance to the secret realm and entered Gate of Fire.
When they arrived at the Gunderson residence, David saw a few people sitting in the living room, including Chester and the leader of The Adamantine, Wayne.
Upon noticing David’s arrival, Chester and Wayne greeted him in unison.
“Please sit, Mr. Chance.” Chester even personally pulled a chair for David. A middle-aged man sitting at the side was confounded by Chester’s attitude toward David.
He joked, “You’re the Great Elder of the Gunderson family, so why are you treating an insignificant figure from the mundane world so politely? I don’t think I’ve ever seen you treat me that nicely before.”
“You visit my home eight hundred times every year, Ekko. No matter how hard I try, I can never chase you away. You should be grateful that I don’t beat you. Yet, you still have the gall to ask me to treat you politely.” Chester glared at him. “It’s because the food prepared here is too delicious!” Ekko Valentine laughed. As David studied Ekko, Chester explained, “Mr. Chance, this is a rogue cultivator called Ekko Valentine. He lives in the secret realm all alone and often mingles with various prestigious families.”
Meanwhile, Ekko turned to David. “I can tell the brat’s capable, considering he managed to reach the level of Spirit Replicator in the mundane world. It seems you’re the young Martial Arts God from the mundane world. I bet you would’ve been unbeatable in the mundane world if not for those in the hidden realm.”
His words shocked David. “You know about the hidden realm?”
“Of course! We may be from the secret realm, thus unable to stay for long in the mundane world, but it doesn’t mean we can’t leave this realm at all. For example, I frequented Crafting Clan and even bought several magical items from them,” explained Ekko.
Upon hearing that, David smiled without saying anything. Crafting Clan no longer exists in the mundane world!
It was then he felt a weak spiritual sense advancing toward him. The spiritual sense was so faint that he couldn’t have detected it without paying close attention.
He snapped his gaze toward the origin of the spiritual sense and saw an old man who had fixated his gaze on him without blinking. Additionally, he saw a young man standing behind the old man.
When the old man noticed David’s line of sight, he turned away, and the faint spiritual sense vanished.
“Is this the person you’re planning to take to the Secret Realm Conference, Chester?” the old man asked.
Based on his tone, it seemed he didn’t respect Chester.
“Indeed he is.” Chester nodded before introducing the old man to David. “Mr. Chance, this is Zahrin Sect’s leader, Lamar Macall. Behind him is his son, Kayden.”
Upon ending his sentence, he communicated with David through telepathy.
“Mr. Chance, Zahrin Sect has absorbed over a dozen sects in Gate of Fire. Currently, it’s the largest sect here. He’s the one obstructing you from attending the Secret Realm Conference.”
Right as Chester finished his sentence, Lamar sneered, “You’re not a young man anymore, Chester. You can speak your mind. There’s no need for you to do so in a discreet manner.”
—
Upon hearing that, Chester smiled awkwardly. “You’ve gotten more powerful, Lamar. Even my telepathy can’t escape your notice anymore.”
“I’m glad you know that! So, take my advice, Chester. Join me as soon as you can. When all of Gate of Fire is united, no other secret realms will dare to face us anymore.” Lamar cackled.
“Keep dreaming, Lamar. There’s no way we’ll become your subordinates,” scoffed Wayne.
In response, Lamar just grinned as everyone settled into their seats.
Evangeline served a cup of coffee to David. “Enjoy the coffee, Mr. Chance.” “Thank you, Ms. Gunderson. Are you feeling better now?” inquired David caringly.
“I am!” She nodded.
The moment Evangeline appeared, Kayden fixed his gaze on her with a noticeable glint in his eyes. “There’s one more thing you should mention, Dad. Did you forget about it?” he whispered into Lamar’s ear.
“I didn’t,” replied Lamar before turning to Chester. “Now that your beautiful daughter has regained her sanity, perhaps we can discuss a union between her and my son. When that happens, all of Gate of Fire will be ours!” “No. I don’t like your son,” spat Evangeline with disgust before Chester could utter a word.
“What did you say, Evangeline? What about me isn’t good enough for you?” Kayden questioned furiously.
“I just don’t like you!” Upon ending her sentence, Evangeline returned to her room. A scowl sat on Kayden’s face as a vicious look swirled in his eyes.
“I don’t think we should get involved in our children’s matter, Lamar. Nowadays, it’s all about the freedom to choose one’s life partner,” said Chester.
Instead of continuing that topic, Lamar stated his perspective on the original discussion. “You know the secret realm’s rule, Chester. David is someone from the mundane world. There’s no way he can join the Secret Realm Conference. Besides, each spot in the conference is very valuable to Gate of Fire. If someone as unimpressive as David attends the conference, not only will he embarrass Gate of Fire, but we’ll also fail to seize any resources! Gate of Fire doesn’t belong only to the Gunderson family. We need to consider the good of everyone in the secret realm!”
“Mr. Chance is part of the Gunderson family, so why can’t he join the Secret Realm Conference? Besides, he’s taking my family’s spot. You, as an outsider, don’t have the right to sway my decision,” remarked Chester, somewhat incensed.
“You may be correct, but David’s only a Third Level Spirit Replicator. Can he face an opponent in the arena? He may call himself the strongest in the mundane world, but in the secret realm, his power is insignificant!” Lamar spat coldly.
“I’m only bringing Mr. Chance there to let him see how things are like in the conference. I’m not planning to let him enter the arena, so there’s no point in making a fuss about his strength!”
“In that case, I object to his participation even further! You should know the arena in the Secret Realm Conference belongs to the youngsters. If David, a youngster himself, never joins the arena, he’ll embarrass us in front of the other secret realms!”
“You’re overstepping your boundaries, Lamar. Zahrin Sect may be the most powerful entity in Gate of Fire right now, but you still aren’t its master. You don’t have the right to order others around,” Ekko commented disdainfully. He could not stand Lamar.
“You’re just a rogue cultivator, Ekko. You don’t have the right to speak on this matter. If you don’t stay in line, I’ll kick you out of Gate of Fire!” Enraged, Lamar glared at Ekko.
Ekko also exploded in anger and roared, “You’re too arrogant! So what if I don’t stay in line? What are you going to do, huh?”
—
Seeing that two men were about to start a fight, Wayne swiftly stood and offered a compromise. “All right, that’s enough. Since none of you can agree on the matter, let’s continue the discussion. Right now, Mr. Chance has the strength of a Third Level Spirit Replicator, so he has the right to enter the arena. However, we shouldn’t expect too much from him. He just needs to win three rounds. After all, the ultimate victor depends on how many times a secret realm wins. If Mr. Chance can win three rounds, then it’s very likely we can reach the top three.” There’s still only a limited number of spots in the conference, after all. If David attends it but doesn’t fight in the arena, it’ll be a loss to Gate of Fire.
Lamar nodded. “Okay. Then we’ll do as Mr. Gingerich suggests. However, if David fails to win three rounds, the Gunderson family has to compensate us for our loss of resources!” Chester didn’t have the nerve to make a decision lightly, so he turned to David. The latter nodded.
In response, Chester agreed, “All right. It’s decided then.” With that, Lamar left with his son.
Ekko did, too, leaving Wayne and Chester behind to keep David company. “What are the rules for the Secret Realm Conference like, Mr. Gingerich? Also, what level of power should I expect from the other contestants participating in the arena?” asked David. While my strength has soared at a meteoric rate, I still don’t have a clue about the secret realm, so I don’t know how mighty my opponents may be. Since I’ve agreed to the condition, it’ll be embarrassing if I lose, so I want to learn about the upcoming challenge as much as possible.
“I’ll ask my disciple to answer your questions, Mr. Chance. While he isn’t powerful, he still knows plenty about the various secret realms.” Wayne touched the air, causing a golden light to flash by.
Upon witnessing that, David thought, What an interesting method of communication. I’m intrigued, though I’m pretty sure this is just something akin to magecraft.
Moments later, a skinny, one-hundred-and-fifty-centimeters-tall man entered the room and stood before Wayne. “What’s the matter, Master?”
“Monkey, this is Mr. Chance. He’s from the mundane world, so he doesn’t know much about the secret realms. Please answer any questions that he has in detail. Also, remember to treat him politely and give him a tour around the place,” ordered Wayne.
When David heard how ridiculous the name of Wayne’s disciple was, he couldn’t help but laugh out loud.
Nevertheless, Monkey didn’t mind. He glanced at David with shock because he didn’t understand why his master showed so much respect to a youngster from the mundane world.
Still, he stifled his curiosity and greeted David. “Hello. My name is Zain Holland, but people like to call me Monkey.” “Nice to meet you. I’m David Chance.” David smiled.
Zain’s friendly attitude left a good impression on David.
“I’ll give you a tour around Gate of Fire and a rundown of the place,” uttered Zain politely.
David nodded. Upon bidding Chester and Wayne goodbye, he followed Zain out of the building.
Just as the two of them arrived at the entrance, Evangeline stopped them and said, “I’ll join you two, Monkey!” She seemed to be familiar with Zain.
“It’s just a desert outside, Ms. Gunderson. It’s not like you’ve never seen it before. I think it’s better if you stay in the house,” replied Zain.
“Well, it’s because I want to see how knowledgeable you are, considering many say you know everything about the secret realms.” Evangeline grinned. In response, Zain had no choice but to bring her along.
—
“Ask me whatever you want to know, Mr. Chance. There’s nothing I don’t know about the Eight Major Secret Realms!” stated Zain confidently upon stepping out of the Gunderson family estate.
“What are the rules within the Secret Realm Conference, Mr. Holland? Also, how powerful are the experts in the secret realm?” asked David.
“There’s no need to be so formal with me, Mr. Chance. Just call me Monkey.” Zain grinned. “It’s been years since the last Secret Realm Conference was held. I believe the organization of the upcoming Secret Realm Conference has something to do with the restoration of spiritual energy in the mundane world. “The rules of the Secret Realm Conference are simple. Each secret realm will send ten young disciples to join the battle. There’ll be ten arenas, and everyone will take turns fighting each other. If someone loses, they can choose to fight in another arena. As for the victor, they’ll occupy that specific arena. However, if someone is defeated three times in a row, they’ll be disqualified. “On the other hand, if someone can occupy an arena until the event concludes, their name will be recorded on the Supreme Honor Rankings. Only a prodigy is capable enough to earn a spot on the ranking. Currently, there are only five names on it. The result of the competition depends on the disciples of each secret realm. Whichever secret realm seizes the most number of victories will become the winner. By the end, the losing five families will have to hand some of their resources to the top three. However, I don’t know how powerful the experts from the other secret realms are.
Still, I heard the person who holds first place in Supreme Honor Rankings is Sigwin Green. I think he’s a Top Level Spirit Replicator.”
His explanation was very detailed because he was worried David wouldn’t understand. “Top Level Spirit Replicator?” David was slightly stunned. From a martial artist’s perspective, a Top Level Spirit Replicator is equivalent to a Top Level Martial Arts God. Even though I’m only a Third Level Spirit Replicator, I’m confident I can defeat a Top Level Martial Arts God. If the mightiest individual on the Supreme Honor Rankings is only that powerful, then I think the competition will be easier than I thought! It doesn’t seem like the cultivation level of the people in the secret realm is that high.
Unbeknownst to David, he was only capable of battling against someone higher level than him if his opponent was a martial artist from the mundane world. If his adversary were a spiritual energy cultivator instead, then it would be impossible for him to bridge that gap.
At the moment, David was a Third Level Spirit Replicator and could easily defeat an average Fifth Level Spirit Replicator. However, if his opponent were an exceptionally talented spiritual energy cultivator, then he would struggle in that battle.
The only higher-level martial artists David had been fighting were from the mundane world. Because of that, he mistakenly thought he could still win should he face a spiritual energy cultivator.
“You don’t need to worry too much, Mr. Chance. As mighty as Sigwin is, you may not necessarily encounter him. After all, there are so many participants, so everyone will be paired with their opponent through drawing lots,” comforted Zain, thinking David was afraid when he mentioned the Top Level Spirit Replicator.
However, he had no idea David was actually excited, not frightened.
As the trio spoke and ambled forward, David stared at the desert and remarked, “How do you all cultivate? I doubt Gate of Fire is rich with resources, considering how barren it is. Did you all just absorb the spiritual energy in the environment and cultivate slowly?”
“You may not know about this, but all secret realms don’t have plenty of resources. Otherwise, they wouldn’t have cultivated representative families in the mundane world. Aside from waiting for the spiritual energy restoration, these representative families will also collect resources and send them to their respective secret realms. Nonetheless, following the devastation of the spiritual energy restoration, the sealed demon beast secret realm has probably been reopened.” Zain sighed.
“Demon beast secret realm?” David was astonished. Why do demon beasts also have a secret realm?
“I know about this!” Evangeline immediately disclosed, “A long time ago, the demon beast secret realm used to be where the Eight Major Secret Realms gather their resources. Anyone from the Eight Major Secret Realms can hunt any demon beast they want there. However, as the spiritual energy restoration approaches, members from all secret realms rarely visit the place anymore to preserve their strength. Thus, the entrance to the demon beast secret realm was sealed. I heard it was reopened recently, though I’m unsure what the situation inside looks like. I bet those demon beasts have grown a lot after so many years! Two days ago, I wanted to visit the place, but my dad forbade me…”
As David listened quietly, he was shocked to learn that there was a demon beast secret realm where the Eight Major Secret Realms could hunt.
It sounds like a specially-built hunting ground for a royal family. The more he thought about it, the more he was impressed with the person who created the Eight Major Secret Realms. The secret realms don’t sound like shelters. Still, I’m very interested to see what this secret realm full of demon beasts looks like. It must be quite the sight.
Thus, David asked, “Where is this demon beast secret realm, Monkey? Can I take a look?”
“This…” Zain frowned.
Meanwhile, Evangeline seemed excited. “Sure! Let’s go and check it out right now!”
“Mr. Chance, my master once mentioned it’s dangerous for anyone to step foot into the demon beast secret realm after no one has visited it for years. Thus, I don’t think we should go there,” advised Zain.
“We’re just going to take a look around. If there’s any danger, we’ll return immediately,” David suggested. I don’t plan to stay there for long since I’m not powerful enough to do that.
“You’re such a coward! We’ll only take a few glances there before coming straight back! How dangerous can it be?” Evangeline rolled her eyes at Monkey.
In response, Zain gritted his teeth. “Fine. We’ll check it out and return right after that.”
Upon ending his sentence, he guided David and Evangeline to a dune.
Soon, the trio stood on the dune. Zain rapidly executed a few hand seals. Then, a white light flashed before their eyes. After blacking out momentarily, David opened his eyes and realized he was already at another location.
“This is the Teleportation Array?” asked David in a surprised tone.
“That’s right. Every secret realm has many Teleportation Arrays. However, all of them have been disguised. The dune we were standing on earlier was one. Perform the correct hand seals, and we’ll arrive at the secret realm we want to visit,” clarified Zain.
“Does this mean you could’ve sent us to Gate of Thunder at that location earlier?” David recalled his mother should still be at Violet Cloud Palace.
“Of course. I just need to change the hand seals slightly to teleport us to Gate of Thunder. But why do you want to go there? It’s dangerous to barge into other secret realms.”
“It’s nothing. I was just asking.” David smiled before shifting his sight to the scenery.
It was then he realized there was a mountain range before them.
They were surrounded by thick forests. Occasionally, they could hear the roars of demon beasts coming from afar.
“This is Demon Beast Mountain, Mr. Chance. According to the rumors, there exists a king who commands all demon beasts here in the depths of this mountain range. I wonder if it’s true,” informed Zain.
“Can we climb the mountain?” As David gazed at the mountain range and felt the aura emanating from it, he felt excited. The demon beasts here are undoubtedly quality cultivation resources.
“We mustn’t venture any deeper, Mr. Chance. We can only stay at the foot of the mountain. After all, we don’t know how much the demon beasts have developed over the years. If we find ourselves in danger, we won’t even have a chance to call for help!” reminded Zain.
—
“All right, I understand.” David began trekking at the foot of the mountain.
Without warning, a black figure leaped straight toward David from the bushes.
Just as he was going to strike, Zain shot a dagger toward the black figure, pinning it to a nearby tree.
It was then David realized that the black figure was a wolfdog-sized mole.
“I hate these moles the most, Mr. Chance. The entire Demon Beast Mountain is crawling with these creatures. Even though they aren’t strong, they love to ambush people. Additionally, the beast cores these moles have are practically worthless, so very few people will ever want them. I hope we don’t encounter a group of them because they’re disgusting.” Zain’s disdain and repulsion for those moles were apparent.
David smiled. It seems like rat-like creatures are hated no matter where they are.
The trio continued their journey. Suddenly, they heard the sounds of a battle nearby. Swiftly, they headed to the source of the noises.
Moments later, they discovered a few people were attacking a flaming wolf. The wolf was enveloped in scarlet flames and kept shooting fireballs.
The flaming wolf roughed up the attackers pretty badly, but they still managed to kill the creature and extract its beast core.
When David took a better look at the person extracting the beast’s core, he was slightly taken aback because he recognized that guy. It was Kayden. After Kayden put the beast core away, his expression shifted. “Who are you? Why are you hiding there? Come out!”
Clearly, he noticed the trio already.
Upon seeing that, the trio revealed themselves.
Kayden’s expression relaxed when he realized the figures hiding in the shadow were David and the others.
After all, the scariest living beings in the demon beast secret realm weren’t the beasts but people. It was because stealing was a common occurrence there.
No one liked having their hard-earned beast core stolen by someone from other secret realms.
“You’re pretty lucky, Mr. Macall. It’s rare to encounter a flaming wolf at the edges of the mountain range.” Zain grinned.
“I’m assuming you’re the one who brought the two of them here. Aren’t you three afraid you’ll become a demon beast’s lunch?” questioned Kayden with contempt.
“Mr. Chance only wanted to take a gander at the demon beast secret realm.
We’ll be returning soon.”
“Well, since you three are already here, there’s no need to rush back home. Besides, if you three follow me, you’ll be safer. Once I kill a few more demon beasts, I’ll share some of their cores with you all. It’s better than returning empty-handed, right?” Kayden was planning to bring the trio to a demon beast hunt.
Meanwhile, David understood why Kayden was doing that. He’s just trying to create an opportunity to spend time with Evangeline and show off how awesome he is by hunting demon beasts. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have kindly offered to protect and share the demon beast cores with us.
“This…” Zain turned to David. He didn’t have the guts to reject Kayden’s offer directly because the latter was Zahrin Sect’s heir.
“In that case, I guess we’ll accompany you, Mr. Macall,” answered David.
In reality, David wanted to spend a little more time in the demon beast secret realm to gauge how powerful the creatures were.
Initially, Evangeline didn’t want to agree to the proposal, but she nodded after David went along with it.
Upon seeing that, Kayden beamed. “Let’s head deeper. The monsters outside the mountain are just a bunch of trash. They aren’t even enough to warm me up!”
He proceeded to lead the trio into the mountain, making Zain nervous.
—
As they ventured deeper into the mountain, David frowned because he sensed powerful auras from his surroundings.
After walking for a while, Kayden abruptly raised his hand, halting others from advancing.
Then, he shot a glance at a subordinate. The subordinate nodded, rapidly leaped into the air, and traveled across the trees.
Soon, that subordinate returned and reported, “There are more than a dozen people ahead of us, Mr. Macall. I think they’re from other secret realms. I didn’t have the nerve to get too close to them, so I couldn’t see their faces clearly.”
“We’ll take a detour and avoid them.” Kayden preferred to avoid a conflict with people from other secret realms. It’s not worth engaging in a fight with them since we haven’t gotten many beast cores yet.
“I think it’s too late for that,” uttered David.
Kayden was stunned before over a dozen auras surrounded them.
The unexpected combatants surprised David because he knew who their leader was. It was Claus, the man David met on Encanta Island in the past.
Claus was similarly surprised to see David. This is a resource area that only people from the Eight Major Secret Realms can enter, so why is he here? Isn’t he someone from the mundane world?
Kayden politely waved at Claus and greeted, “Well, well, I didn’t expect to see Mr. Lassen from Waxing Crescent Castle here. To think you’re already hunting demon beasts so soon after the entrance to the demon beast secret realm was opened.”
“Aren’t you doing the same, Mr. Macall?” sneered Claus.
“I’ve only just arrived, so I haven’t met any demon beast yet. What about you?”
Claus shook his head. “It’s the same for me. I haven’t gotten any beast cores so far.”
“In that case, how about we travel together? It’s been years, so there’s no telling how much stronger the demon beasts have grown. If we work together, we’ll at least be capable of defeating high-level demon beasts,” proposed Kayden.
No one knew what to expect after the demon beast secret realm was sealed for many years. However, he was still curious about the danger present in the mountain, which was why he suggested traveling together.
After a brief moment of hesitation, Claus glanced at David and nodded. “Sure, but we’ll split the beast cores we get equally.”
“No problem. By working together, perhaps we’ll even slay a few high-ranking demon beasts.” Kayden beamed.
With that, David’s group swelled in size. Meanwhile, Claus casually approached David.
In response, David studied Claus briefly. He has grown more powerful compared to the last time we met on Encanta Island. His life force energy feels different. It seems like the laws of nature are still heavily suppressed in the mundane world.
“Mr. Lassen!” greeted Zain when he saw Claus.
Claus nodded before turning to David. “I didn’t expect to see you here. I’m surprised.”
“I feel the same.” David grinned.
Upon witnessing that exchange, Zain was bewildered. “You know Mr. Lassen, Mr. Chance?”
“I met him once before.”
“I’m curious. You’re a rogue cultivator in the mundane world. How did you earn the right to enter the demon beast secret realm?” inquired Claus.
“It’s because Mr. Chance is part of the Gunderson family, Mr. Macall,” answered Evangeline.
Claus glanced at her with a faint, silent smile but said nothing.
—
The group of people went deeper into the depths of Demon Beast Mountain. They were met with low-level demon beasts on their way, but they dealt with the beasts in a flash.
Those rich men were not interested in the beast cores of those low-level demon beasts.
Just as everyone was carefully treading into the center of Demon Beast Mountain, David’s expression suddenly turned grim, and he shouted a warning, causing everyone to stop in their tracks.
“Brat, what are you doing? Why are we stopping?” Kayden turned around and asked David angrily.
David ignored him. He closed his eyes and unleashed his spiritual sense, letting it spread across their surroundings.
Although he wasn’t necessarily as capable as Kayden, his spiritual sense was much stronger than anyone else in the group.
Kayden was fuming with anger when he saw that David had ignored him. He approached the latter and was about to teach him a lesson, but Claus stopped him.
Claus observed David’s behavior and began to worry.
He had seen David’s power first-hand when they were on Encanta Island. He knew that David was powerful despite only being a rogue cultivator in the mundane world.
“We can’t go any further. There’s danger up front,” David advised as he slowly opened his eyes.
“What kind of danger? Why didn’t I sense it? A Third Level Spirit Replicator like you can’t have a stronger spiritual sense than me. I don’t even sense anything, yet you said it’s dangerous up front.” Kayden did not believe David. He was sure he would have already sensed it if there were high-level demon beasts and other dangers lying ahead.
“I’m just trying to warn everyone. It’s up to you whether you believe it or not!”
David flashed a faint smile when he saw the disbelief on Kayden’s face.
“Hmph! Who would believe you?” Kayden scoffed and was about to trek ahead with the others in tow, but David along with Zain and Evangeline stayed rooted to their spots and refused to advance further ahead.
Seeing that, Claus chose to stay put as well, which surprised Kayden.
“Mr. Lassen, please don’t tell me you believe this brat’s words. Are you able to sense any danger? Did you sense any existence of high-level demon beasts? I think he’s just spouting nonsense! There isn’t any danger at all!” Kayden exclaimed at Claus.
“I think it’s best to be on our guard. Let’s send two people to check it out first,” Claus replied cautiously.
“Fine!” Kayden nodded and instructed two of his subordinates to survey the area up front.
Although those two subordinates were scared, they did not dare to go against Kayden’s orders as they carefully made their way forward.
Nothing strange happened even though ten minutes had passed since the two subordinates entered the forest. Kayden smirked and said, “See? There isn’t any danger at all! I don’t know what you all are afraid of!”
Claus was relieved when he saw that there was indeed no danger. He gripped his weapon, ready to lead his subordinates further into the mountains.
Just then, two horrifying, blood-curdling screams rang out.
Kayden and Claus, who had just taken a step forward, suddenly stopped in their tracks.
Roar!
Following the screams, a thunderous roar echoed through the mountains, causing the ground to shake.
Everyone turned pale when they heard the roar and felt the trembling of the ground.
A terrifying aura was approaching them at high speed, and it appeared before everyone within a blink of an eye.
Before any of them could identify the demon beast, they felt waves of scorching heat enveloping them, followed by gusts of strong gales.
Everyone activated their elixir fields to stabilize their footing as the towering trees around them were uprooted by the strong gale and blown away, disappearing into the distance.
Soon, all the trees surrounding David and the others were blown away. The forest was soon reduced to barren land, and the demon beast showed itself before them.
Roar!
The demon beast let out another ferocious roar.
David noticed that the demon beast was a huge tiger with flames covering its entire body. It looked similar to the flaming wolf they had met previously.
—
However, the tiger seemed to be much bigger than the flaming wolf. The aura it emanated was much more terrifying too.
“B-Blazing Tiger… I-It’s the Blazing Tiger!”
Zain was trembling from head to toe when he saw the demon beast. He was so horrified that he even began to stutter.
David was confused when he saw Zain’s terrified demeanor. Although this Blazing Tiger has a scary aura and is surely powerful, there are so many of us and only one beast. It doesn’t make sense for him to be so scared. “Monkey, why are you so afraid of it? Is this tiger a powerful demon beast?” David asked in confusion.
“Don’t you know, Mr. Chance? This Blazing Tiger is the king of the demon beasts. I assume this part of Demon Beast Mountain is the territory of this Blazing Tiger. One Blazing Tiger might not be that terrifying. We can defeat it as long as we work together. However, the Blazing Tiger can summon hundreds or even thousands of demon beasts. If waves of demon beasts come charging at us, I’m afraid we won’t be able to survive,” Zain explained to David.
David finally understood the reason behind Zain’s fear. Zain wasn’t afraid of the Blazing Tiger, but of the demon beasts it might summon.
Kayden and Claus also bore similar expressions of panic and fear when they saw the Blazing Tiger.
The two exchanged gazes before yelling, “Everyone, attack! We need to kill off this Blazing Tiger as fast as we can! We absolutely can’t allow it to summon other demon beasts!”
With that, Kayden and Claus took action simultaneously to attack the Blazing Tiger.
The groups of people they each led also charged toward the Blazing Tiger. If they could not kill the Blazing Tiger in time, they would have zero chance of surviving if it ended up summoning other demon beasts.
The Blazing Tiger roared when faced with the incoming attacks and opened its bloody maw to breathe fire. Coupled with a surge of terrifying aura, the flames immediately devoured two disciples of Waxing Crescent Castle and burnt them to ashes.
Claus had no time to look out for his subordinates as he stabbed the Blazing Tiger’s neck with his long sword.
Kayden reacted almost at the same time and sent several glowing daggers soaring toward the Blazing Tiger.
The Blazing Tiger seemed to have sensed impending danger as it suddenly waved its long, thick tail and struck Claus, sending the latter flying into the distance.
Kayden’s daggers burned and produced ear-piercing hissing sounds upon making contact with the Blazing Tiger’s body, but immediately after that, they bounced off its body instead of penetrating it.
Although the daggers did not cause much damage to the Blazing Tiger, they still inflicted pain on it. In response, the beast roared and flung its tail about like a whip, striking everyone nearby.
Its humongous claws were invincible, capable of smashing a person’s head effortlessly.
In the blink of an eye, several people from Zahrin Sect met their deaths under the Blazing Tiger’s claws.
“David, are you just going to stand there and enjoy the show?” Kayden yelled angrily when he noticed that David, Zain, and Evangeline were not doing anything to attack the Blazing Tiger.
Claus was also fuming when he saw the trio standing still. “If we all die, you won’t be able to escape from the Blazing Tiger either!”
Only then did David hold out his hand, and the Dragonslayer Sword appeared in a flash.
Shortly after, the draconic essence flickered, and the Power of Dragons began gathering, causing the Dragonslayer Sword to emit a brilliant light.
Soon, a golden dragon gradually manifested behind David.
The ferocious Blazing Tiger that was raging about was momentarily stunned when it saw the dragon behind David, its eyes filled with fear.
Roar!
It let out one last thunderous roar before turning around and running away.
“Don’t let it get away!” Kayden yelled and was about to chase after it, but Claus stopped him.
“Don’t bother. We can’t catch up to such a strong demon beast. It’s better to leave this place as soon as possible. Otherwise, none of us will be able to get out of here alive!” Claus exclaimed.
Kayden knew it was useless for him to lead his subordinates to chase after the Blazing Tiger. After all, they would not be able to defeat the demon beast alone. Hence, he could only listen to Claus’ suggestion and leave the place as soon as possible.
“Mr. Chance, let’s hurry and get out of here! Otherwise, that Blazing Tiger might summon waves of demon beasts!” Zain urged David.
David nodded and followed behind the others to leave Demon Beast Mountain.
They had not traveled far when they felt the ground shake, as though a terrifying surge of energy was approaching them.
David’s expression turned grim as terror filled his eyes.
“There’s a wave of demon beasts coming! That Blazing Tiger has summoned a wave of demon beasts!” Claus yelled as he turned pale from feeling the vibrations of the ground.
“Quick! Run!” Kayden shouted in fear, panicking.
“It’s too late. We need to hurry and form a defensive wall. Otherwise, we won’t be able to survive this wave of demon beasts!” David exclaimed as he stopped Kayden. He had also sensed the aura of the oncoming demon beasts.
“It’ll be useless forming a defensive wall with the number of people we have here. We should just get out of here.”
Naturally, Kayden would never listen to David’s suggestion.
On the other hand, Claus had soared into the air to survey the surroundings. His expression turned grim when he saw huge clouds of dust that resembled giant waves coming their way, causing trees to tumble in their wake. His face was as pale as a sheet. “It’s too late. The wave of demon beasts will arrive at any time…”
At that moment, everyone could feel the ground’s vibration getting stronger by the minute as horrifying waves of aura surged constantly in their direction.
“Since we can’t escape, what should we do?”
Kayden was overwhelmed by anxiety. He was starting to regret intruding into the depths of Demon Beast Mountain.
Claus shifted his gaze to David. Although David was not the most powerful among them, they had no choice but to rely on him to think of a solution in that critical situation.
“Everyone! Huddle closely together! Do not disperse!” commanded David.
Following that, he started using a tree branch to draw unique symbols on the ground around them.
“Is he drawing an arcane array? I didn’t know this brat was also a master of arcane array.”
Kayden was surprised as he watched David draw those symbols.
Soon, the unique symbols that David had drawn started to flicker and glow.
However, David did not stop. He continued to set up the arcane array by drawing symbols on the trees surrounding them, which quickly linked with the ones on the ground.
The glowing light soon engulfed David and the others, shielding them and giving them a sense of security. Everyone sighed in relief and was no longer as nervous as they were before.
David, however, was not as happy while he stared at the arcane array he had set up. That was because he knew the arcane array would not be able to last long.
The only thing the arcane array could do was block the first wave of attack from the demon beasts since it was the strongest.
“Mr. Chance, I didn’t know you were also a profound master in arcane array. What’s the name of the arcane array you set up? Can it fend off those demon beasts’ attacks?” Zain asked excitedly.
“This arcane array of mine can only block the demon beasts’ first wave of attack. After that, we’ll need to depend on our respective abilities to survive,” David replied earnestly.
Everyone who had just relaxed grew nervous again upon hearing that.
“It’s good enough if it can block the first wave of attacks. After all, the first wave is the most terrifying. I believe this wave of demon beasts won’t last long. Plus, those demon beasts were summoned by that Blazing Tiger, so I doubt they’ll be very powerful. They’re probably low-level demon beasts. As long as we work together and don’t stray far away from each other, we should be able to withstand the attacks,” Claus said.
In the face of death, we must unite as one…
—
Kayden took out his weapon as a murderous glint flashed across his eyes. “It looks like we have no choice but to go all out. It’s up to fate whether or not we survive.”
Since things had come to this point, they could only go all out and fight for their survival.
Everyone was on guard as they stared ahead, getting ready to fight the demon beasts head-on. The ground shook violently, and they could all feel the murderous aura wafting toward them in the air.
Roar!
A thunderous roar tore through the air, followed by countless other roars that reciprocated the first one.
Fortunately, David and company were powerful enough to withstand the impact. If they were slightly weaker, the demon beasts’ roars would’ve burst their eardrums and killed them on the spot.
David slowly held up his hands, sending beams of light to shoot up into the sky. After that, waves of aura descended from the sky and spread across their surroundings.
Everyone was astonished as they sensed the powerful aura of the arcane array as it surrounded them like an iron wall.
“This arcane array is quite powerful. It would’ve taken me a long time to try breaking it,” Claus muttered in surprise as he stared at the glowing arcane array.
He then sighed in awe. David has gotten so much more powerful! Back when we were on Encanta Island, David was still quite weak, but now, he’s grown to become so much stronger!
“Although this arcane array is strong, it can only hold off the first wave of attack from the demon beasts. Looks like it’s not that great after all!” Kayden scoffed.
Many people rolled their eyes in annoyance at what Kayden said. He was depending on someone else’s arcane array to stay alive, yet he was still making a sarcastic remark about it.
“Kayden, don’t stay in this arcane array if you think it’s not great. Step out of it. I’d like to see how those demon beasts will tear you into pieces!” Evangeline uttered, displeased with Kayden’s attitude.
Kayden flushed red from embarrassment when he heard Evangeline’s words.
Just then, David stepped forward. He looked serious, saying, “Everyone, now that the demon beasts have arrived, we must unite as one to survive. Hence, I hope no one will cower behind to preserve their strength when we fight later.”
David’s words were directed at Kayden. If Kayden were to preserve his strength by not giving his all, they would all be in danger.
“Don’t worry. No one would dare to do so in a life-and-death situation like this. That would be equal to seeking death,” Claus said to David.
“All right. We should be on alert then.” As soon as those words left David’s mouth, the Dragonslayer Sword in his hand buzzed and exuded an intense, murderous aura.
The others around him were influenced by his determination to fight. They also gritted their teeth as ruthlessness flashed across their eyes, prepared to fight to the death.
Just as everyone got ready to attack, the trees before them collapsed to the ground one after another. Countless demon beasts came rushing toward them.
Those demon beasts were humongous and looked horrifying while brandishing their sharp claws and baring their fangs.
Some began trembling in fear when the beasts showed themselves, for there were too many of them. If it weren’t for the arcane array, the first wave of demon beasts would’ve easily trampled everyone to death.
Boom!
The demon beast leading the group ran head-first into the arcane array and got rebounded.
The other beasts behind it did the same, smashing themselves tirelessly against the arcane array.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Deafening sounds rang out continuously. Everyone watched anxiously as the demon beasts kept coming.
Many demon beasts were knocked to the ground and were soon stomped to death by the others.
The demon beasts at the front wanted to stop, but the ones at the back kept rushing forward. Hence, they kept slamming into the arcane array one after another.
Countless dead bodies of demon beasts soon surrounded the arcane array, but the demon beasts never stopped charging forward.
Everyone held their breath as they gripped their weapons and stared intently at the demon beasts before them.
The glow of the arcane array grew dimmer by the second. They all knew that the arcane array wouldn’t be able to hold for long and that it would only be a matter of time before it was destroyed.
—
Another deafening explosion sounded. The arcane array’s glow suddenly dissolved into stardust and scattered onto the floor. David’s arcane array had been utterly destroyed.
“Attack!”
When David saw that, he wielded the Dragonslayer Sword and rushed forward with a roar.
Evangeline followed closely behind him, wishing to keep him safe.
“Kill!” yelled Kayden and Claus as they raised their fists into the air.
Each of them charged forward with their subordinates. None of them dared to hold back or conceal their abilities. If they did not give their all, they would be devoured by the demon beasts.
David weaved in and out of the horde of demon beasts like a bolt of lightning, his Dragonslayer Sword slashing the beasts constantly.
Kayden and Claus also fought for their lives with the demon beasts. They all formed a circle while launching attacks alongside each other, exposing no loopholes or weaknesses. The demon beasts couldn’t break through the circle of defense.
Roar!
Following a deafening roar, the demon beasts that had been advancing fell back at the same time as if they had received instructions.
Meanwhile, David and the others were covered in blood. There were many casualties as well.
Although they were not severely injured, they had exhausted a lot of spiritual energy, causing them to pant heavily. Seizing the opportunity to rest when the demon beasts stopped attacking, they took in deep breaths to recover their energy.
It would take them some time to recover the spiritual energy they had spent. If the demon beasts attacked them again, they probably could not keep up the defense for long.
“If this continues, we’ll either be eaten by the demon beasts or die of exhaustion,” said Claus with a frown.
Everyone remained silent as they knew that they would indeed tire themselves to death if this continued.
“Everyone, gather some beast cores and consume some of them now. That way, we can perhaps replenish some spiritual energy!” David yelled at everyone to grab the beast cores.
After all, there were countless dead demon beasts scattered at their feet. The beast cores were the only resource that could replenish their spiritual energy quickly and efficiently.
“Even if we consume the beast cores, we can’t refine them in such a short time…” replied Kayden with a sigh.
“Just refine as much as we can. We have no choice now.”
With that, David brandished the Dragonslayer Sword and tossed a few dead demon beasts into the air. He then inhaled sharply and absorbed everything into his abdomen.
Unleashing the Focus Technique, he started refining the beast cores that he had just swallowed.
Meanwhile, David observed the demon beasts that had just retreated to around a hundred meters away, looking as if they were waiting to unleash the next wave of attack.
Meanwhile, the Blazing Tiger was staring at David and the rest while standing on a protruding boulder.
“Looks like we’ll have to slay the leader first.”
David gazed at the Blazing Tiger, knowing that if he killed it, all of the demon beasts would disperse.
However, it would not be easy to kill the Blazing Tiger. Since there were hordes of demon beasts on the ground, the only way to attack the Blazing Tiger was through the air.
Roar!
As if it had read David’s mind, the Blazing Tiger threw its head backward and roared. Instantly, thousands of demon beasts began to attack.
“Hold off these demon beasts! I’ll kill the Blazing Tiger! Once the Blazing Tiger dies, the demon beasts will disperse!” David instructed Kayden and Claus.
After all, it was almost impossible to slay so many demon beasts at once. Furthermore, the spiritual energy they possessed wasn’t enough for them to accomplish that feat.
Hence, they had to take an alternative route and target the leader first. “David, you’ll never be able to kill the Blazing Tiger with your ability! Let me try instead.”
Kayden wanted to kill the Blazing Tiger, not because he was concerned about David’s safety. Instead, he wanted to do so for the sake of his own self-interest.
After all, if he killed the Blazing Tiger, he would get its beast core, which was invaluable.
—
Kayden leaped into the air and zoomed toward the Blazing Tiger before David could even say anything in response.
Since everyone was busy fighting the demon beasts, no one took any notice of him.
Yet, as soon as Kayden leaped into mid-air, a loud screech resounded across the area. A dozen massive eagles suddenly rushed toward him in the sky.
Caught off guard, Kayden ended up being surrounded by those eagles. Their sharp claws left injuries all over his body.
It seemed like the Blazing Tiger was well-prepared. Knowing that someone would launch an attack from mid-air, it had set up an ambush in advance.
If Kayden had not competed with David to attack the Blazing Tiger, the latter would have fallen victim to the ambush instead.
“I didn’t expect that beast to be so cunning that it knows how to observe the situation and prepare an ambush…”
David’s curiosity toward the Blazing Tiger was piqued.
When demon beasts cultivated to a certain level, they could develop a spiritual intelligence that allowed them to think like humans.
If the demon beasts continued to cultivate, they could eventually shapeshift into a human form and even become immortal.
There were multiple paths toward becoming immortal. One would surely achieve it as long as one persevered till the end.
Kayden got injured from the sudden attack and recovered after a short moment of readjustment. He then whipped out his flying daggers and threw them at the eagles.
The numerous daggers pierced through the air like bolts of lightning, gleaming dangerously under the light. Having been pierced by the daggers, a few eagles fell onto the ground.
It was evident that Kayden was quite powerful too. He had merely been so anxious to kill the Blazing Tiger earlier that he fell for the ambush and got injured.
Roar!
The Blazing Tiger let out another ferocious roar. Soon, a massive group of various flying demon beasts rushed over in Kayden’s direction.
There were so many of them that they resembled a giant dark cloud looming threateningly in the sky.
Kayden was stunned when he saw that. Even if those demon beasts stayed put, he would still tire himself to death just by slaying them all.
David immediately leaped mid-air. The tips of his fingers glowed as rays of golden light shot out of them like bullets, zooming toward the bunch of demon beasts.
The flying demon beasts plummeted onto the ground with shrieks of agony. However, since there were too many of them, David could not stop them from advancing despite shooting countless rays of light.
“What the fuck are you waiting for?” bellowed David furiously when he saw Kayden standing there, stupefied.
Only then did Kayden finally return to his senses. He spread his arms apart. The numerous flying daggers formed a pair of wings, allowing him to float mid-air.
Following a shake of his arms, he launched multiple daggers, injuring and killing more flying demon beasts. Once again, they fell to the ground one after another.
However, David knew they couldn’t continue doing this for long. They must think of a way to kill the Blazing Tiger!
When he raised the Dragonslayer Sword, the Power of Dragons circled it continuously as a golden dragon emerged.
Fear surfaced in the Blazing Tiger’s eyes the moment it saw the golden dragon appear.
David swung the Dragonslayer Sword, and a beam of light shot into the sky. In response, the golden dragon roared before zooming toward the flying demon beasts.
The flying demon beasts plunged into chaos after the golden dragon joined the battle, while David took the opportunity and charged straight toward the Blazing Tiger.
Upon seeing that, the Blazing Tiger leaped aside and dodged David’s attack. However, it merely evaded him and did not seem to want to engage in battle with him.
Just when David and the others were engaged in a gruesome battle with the demon beasts, Chester flew into a rage at the Gate of Fire’s secret realm.
“This is outrageous! How can they bring Mr. Chance to the demon beast secret realm and even get him involved in a demon beast attack? If anything happens to Mr. Chance, I won’t spare any of you!” Chester gathered all of his people and chided them loudly. He then prepared to head over to the demon beast secret realm to save David and the rest.
—
“Don’t fret. There are other people in the secret realm, so I’m sure they can still hold off for a while if they encounter demon beasts. Let’s head over there to rescue them right away. It should be fine!” Wayne advised.
“It’s all your fault. It must’ve been your disciple who brought Mr. Chance into the secret realm!” Chester shot daggers at Wayne.
Wayne chose to back down, not wanting to start an argument at that juncture. “Playing the blame game under such circumstances doesn’t help at all. We should act fast. Let’s go!”
Just as they were prepared to barge into the secret realm with their men to rescue David and the rest, an anxious-looking Lamar Macall arrived with his men. He was worried sick when he found out that his son had also entered the secret realm and had run into demon beasts.
Upon seeing Chester and Wayne getting ready to depart with their men, he asked, “What are you doing?”
“We’re going on a rescue mission! Demon beast attacks are happening in the secret realm, and some of us are trapped inside!” Wayne stated.
“Perfect! Let’s go together! My son is trapped in there too!” Lamar suggested.
Under such dire circumstances, they disregarded the conflict that once happened between them and put their differences aside, for saving lives was their top priority.
Soon, hundreds of people swarmed into the secret realm through the Gate of Fire, rushing to their destination without delay.
At the same time, Brad from the Gate of Thunder headed toward the demon beast secret realm with members of Waxing Crescent Castle to rescue Claus, who was stuck inside too.
The battle within the demon beast secret realm had reached its peak at that very moment.
The Blazing Tiger’s extraordinary speed had surpassed David’s wildest imagination. It moved so fast that David couldn’t even touch it.
On the other hand, Kayden was surrounded by many flying demon beasts, while the golden dragon that manifested from the Power of Dragons launched continuous attacks on the flying creatures, utilizing its advantage.
Meanwhile, many people who were fighting on the ground had alre
