Chapter 716

Amidst the chaos, a sharp slap rang out, catching everyone by surprise. Julie, who had been making a scene just moments ago, now lay on the ground, bewildered and disoriented.

The crowd gasped, looking at the scene; their eyes widened in shock. No one expected Dustin to be so bold, daring to lay hands on someone associated with the Moseys.

The key thing was that Julie got that gold badge from the Moseys, proof of her high status. For Dustin to slap her was the same as offending Seamus. Was this guy out of his mind?

“Y-You really dare to hit me?” Julie clutched her cheek. Her face was a mix of shock, confusion, and disbelief.

Ever since she joined the Moseys’ circle of influence, she quickly climbed the social ladder. Soon, she became the popular one everyone looked up to. They went along with her, praised her, and did not dare to say anything harsh.

However, Dustin dared to slap her in public. What was wrong with this bastard? He was extremely bold to disregard the rules!

“What’s wrong with hitting you? You were causing a scene and being completely unreasonable. It had to be done,” Dustin stated matter-of-factly.

“Rhys! I’m with the Moseys!” Julie retorted. Without a word, Dustin delivered another resounding slap, causing Julie’s nose to bleed. “With people like you, the Moseys are truly unfortunate!”

“Bastard! How dare you hit me? You’ve done it now! I’ll make you pay!” Julie roared, grabbing her phone to make a call.

“Julie, if I were you, I wouldn’t make that call,” Dustin calmly advised.

“What? Scared now? Why didn’t you think of that earlier?” Julie snapped. “Rhys, even if you kneel and beg for mercy now, I won’t let you off easily! Just wait for your demise!”

“Am I scared? Scared of your false sense of power or your reliance on others?” Dustin chuckled.

“Julie, have you considered how you’ll explain about the stolen badge when reinforcements from the Moseys arrive?

At this, Julie froze, her fingers hovering over the phone. “Rhys! Stop spouting nonsense! Do you think I’d fall for your tricks?”

“Whether you believe it or not, you know the truth,” Dustin said.

“Stealing the Moseys ‘s gold badge is no small crime. Even if Dahlia forgives you, the Moseys won’t take it lightly.

“If this blows up, they’ll likely use you as an example. Imagine your fate, then. I don’t need to spell it out, do I?”

“Y-You’re just trying to scare me! I won’t fall for it! Stop fucking around!” Julie insisted.

“If you don’t believe me, go ahead and make that call. Let’s see who ends up in trouble,” Dustin said emotionlessly. Watching him, Julie suddenly felt uneasy.

Holding the phone in midair, she was hesitant to make the call, realizing that stealing the Moseys’ gold badge was a grave offense.

While Dahlia might let it slide, the Moseys might not. If Seamus caught wind of it, even her connection as Dahlia’s cousin might not be enough to protect her. The risk was too great.

After all that tough talk, Julie hesitated. If she stepped back now, she would be like shooting herself in the foot. How could she show her face in the social circle after that? Just as she felt lost, a crisp voice cut through the tension.

“Ms. Amberson, why use a sledgehammer on a mosquito? Leave this small-time troublemaker to us.”

Two sharply dressed, beautiful young women strolled in side by side. The one in red exuded arrogance-it was Eleanor Welch! The one in white radiated a cold demeanor-it was Elena Forrest, who had crossed paths with Dustin.

Back in Millsburg, down in the Southern Province, these two first crossed paths in kindergarten. Then, they ran into each other again at General Murray’s estate stables, causing quite a ruckus. Little did they know that after all these years, they’d meet again right here.

“Ms. Forrest?” Julie’s face brightened upon seeing them. Her backup had arrived.

“Ms. Amberson, let me introduce you. The lady by my side is the Welch family’s heiress and my close friend.”

“Nice to meet you, Ms. Welch,” Julie said, extending her hand. Only those from elite families like her could be considered friends.

“Hello, Ms. Amberson,” Eleanor greeted with a friendly smile and continued, “Ms. Amberson, it seems you’ve run into trouble. Do you need our help?”

“Just ran into a bit of a nuisance. I was about to handle it, but you two showed up right on cue,” Julie replied casually.

“Ms. Amberson, relax. He won’t stir up any big waves with the two of us here!” Elena said confidently. She then turned to Dustin and, with a cold tone, said, “Rhys! Are you surprised to see us again? Millsburg was your turf, and I never had the chance for revenge.

“Now that we’re on my turf, isn’t it time we settle the score?”

“Oh? How do you plan to settle it?” Dustin raised an eyebrow.

“Firstly, apologize to Ms. Amberson and beg for her forgiveness. Secondly, apologize to me and beg for my forgiveness.

“Lastly, apologize to Eleanor and beg her forgiveness. Once you’ve done all that, we’ll consider sparing you,” Elena said arrogantly.

“Apologize? Are you out of your mind?” Dustin chuckled.

“Rhys, I advise you to think before you answer,” Elena threatened. “I represent the Forrest family, Eleanor represents the Welch family, and Ms. Amberson represents the Moseys.

“Two of us are from elite families and one from an ancient house. In Oakvale, who can contend with us? If you don’t want to die miserably, follow our orders!”

These words caused quite a stir around them.

“Whoa! This guy is fearless! He actually offended so many influential families in one go?”

“Two elite families and an ancient house! How is he going to survive that?

“If it were me, I’d probably be scared stiff.”

Whispers filled the air, and everyone looked at Dustin with a mix of admiration and, more prominently, sympathy. He might have a grim tomorrow if he didn’t make amends with these three heiresses today.

“Two elite families and an ancient house may sound intimidating. But unfortunately, the three of you still can’t represent your own families,” Dustin replied calmly.

“So, are you going to resist to the end?” Elena squinted.

“And what if I do? Do you really think you’ve got me figured out?” Dustin remained unfazed.

“I advise you not to provoke me. Otherwise, you’ll regret it.”

“Hmph! Enough of your bullshit!” Elena snorted.

“Since you’re so ignorant, don’t blame me for what will happen! Guards, give him a good beating! Beat him until he begs for death!”

Under Elena’s command, the two groups of guards rushed in through the door. One group was the Forrest family guards, while the other was the Welch family guards.

Both groups consisted of carefully selected elite guards and outnumbered Julie’s guards. They surrounded the Camron Medical guards as soon as they appeared, turning the situation around instantly.

Onlookers retreated when they saw the standoff for fear of getting implicated in the conflict. No one dared to involve themselves in a confrontation with imposing forces consisting of two elite families and one ancient house.

“It seems like you came prepared with the number of guards you have.” Dustin narrowed his eyes, unafraid even as he was surrounded.

“Dustin, considering our previous friendship, I can ask Elena to spare you as long as you apologize and grovel before us,” Eleanor suddenly said.

The more arrogant Dustin acted, the more she wanted to crush him beneath her feet and humiliate him thoroughly! How dare a nobody at the bottom of society reject her?

“Eleanor, spare me your theatrics. It disgusts me.”

Dustin ruthlessly exposed her, “If I’m not mistaken, you arranged this entire setup. “Stirring up trouble behind the scenes, putting on a benevolent front in public, pretending to be compassionate- aren’t you tired of your little acts?”

“Dustin, I’m giving you a chance. Don’t be ungrateful!” Eleanor yelled.

“That’s enough. You can keep that fake persona of yours to yourself. I don’t care.”

Dustin continued coldly, ” Furthermore, the Welchs must return the things they owe me in three days. Otherwise, I will make you pay a very heavy price!”

“You ungrateful, insolent brat!” Eleanor’s expression darkened, and she glanced around. She yelled, “What are you all doing just standing there? Did no one hear what Elena said? Beat him up!”

“Yes!” The guards at the front were ready to pounce on Dustin, their gaze menacing. However, a faint white smoke wafted into the air before they could do so. It grew increasingly faint until it seemed to disappear completely, unseen to the naked eye.

After the guards breathed in the white smoke, it was as if the life had been sucked out of them as they collapsed to the ground instantly.

Their faces contorted in pain as they groaned. Their eyes were bloodshot, and veins were bulging on their necks.

“What’s going on?” The sudden turn of events left Eleanor and her group bewildered. In their eyes, the guards had just collapsed suddenly.

However, the situation didn’t end there as the mysterious phenomenon continued.Members of the Welch family, the Forrest family, and Julie’s ten or so guards began to fall one after the other. There were about 50 to 60 of them in total.

The guards fell like dominos, every one of them displaying identical symptoms. Their faces contorted in pain, their bodies convulsed, and their eyes were bloodshot.

Those with more serious symptoms were even bleeding from their nose. It was a terrifying sight. In just a few moments, the guards Eleanor, Elena, and Julie had brought were all lying on the ground.

“What happened? Why did they all collapse?”

“From the looks of it, they’ve been poisoned, and it’s a highly toxic poison!

“Highly toxic? Fuck! Will we be alright?

The onlookers were frightened as they watched the guards writhe on the ground, distancing themselves even further from the scene.

Chapter 717

Although they weren’t sure what was going on, it was clear that the poison was extremely potent.

“What is going on?” Eleanor, Elena, and Julie exchanged puzzled looks, their brows furrowed. The hall was filled with people, yet only their guards were affected. It was astonishing to think that the poison could differentiate between friend and foe.

“Rhys! Are you responsible for this?” Julie was quick to conclude.

“Don’t blindly accuse me. I didn’t do anything.” Dustin shrugged.

“You still dare deny it? You clearly did this, you rotten bastard!”

“Rhys! You’d better hand us the antidote! Otherwise, if anyone dies here, I will send you with them!” Elena yelled.

The guards she brought today were from the elite ranks of the Forrest family. They weren’t only skilled but also extremely loyal.

The Forrest family had invested considerable resources in training these elite guards. She would be held accountable if they all died here upon her return. She might even be punished by house law.

“I told you. I didn’t do anything.”

Dustin continued calmly, “Even if I did, why would I hand over the antidote? Don’t forget, you are the ones stirring up trouble here.”

“I don’t care! You’ll be up against the entire Forrest family if you don’t hand over the antidote!” Elena threatened.

“It doesn’t matter. We’re already on bad terms. The worst that could happen is a fight till the end,” Dustin stated indifferently.

“You!” Elena was rendered speechless. She didn’t expect Dustin to be so hard to deal with. He was unfazed when threatened with the Forrest family name. It seemed as if he was intent on letting things worsen.

“Dustin, as long as you hand over the antidote, I’ll forget about what happened today,” Eleanor said.

“That won’t do.”

Dustin warned, “I want the three of you to apologize to me in public and reimburse me for the mental distress you’ve caused me. Otherwise, you’ll be in for more trouble.”

“Apologize? In your dreams!” Elena screeched.

“Rhys! You’re playing with fire!” Julie roared, her expression dark. “Dustin, we’ve been extremely patient with you! If you insist on being stubborn, you’ll suffer the consequences!” Eleanor threatened.

They were of high status, having power and influence. They would never apologize to the scum of society. If news spread that they did, how could they ever show themselves in public again?

“Wait! My body-“Suddenly, Elena noticed something strange. She was about to say something when her legs went numb, and she collapsed onto the ground.

“M-My head hurts!” Elena grabbed her head, looking miserable as she groaned.

“Elena!” Eleanor’s expression shifted dramatically. She was about to help her up when she collapsed, too. Julie was no exception.

They had the same symptoms as the guards that collapsed earlier. Their body convulsed, their head was hurting, and their eyes were bloodshot.

“D-Dustin… What did you do to us?” Eleanor yelled weakly.

“He didn’t do anything. It was me.” Right then, Abigail walked up to them. She continued with a smile, “I’ll be honest. This is my newest creation, so only I have the antidote.

“Those affected by it will find themselves weak all over, have a terrible headache, and finally bleed to death.

“Of course, there’s no need to be nervous. It’ll only take a short three to five minutes till death. So, hang in there. It’ll be over soon.”

Abigail looked just like the girl next door. However, Eleanor, Elena, and Julie felt a chill run down their spines as they gazed at her, breaking out in cold sweat.

Despite her harmless appearance, the words that came from her lips were horrifying. She poisoned them yet was telling them to endure it. What a psycho!

“Who are you? How dare you poison us? “Elena screamed fiercely.

“That’s not important. The issue now is, what will you choose?”

Abigail smiled. “You only have two options. Either you succumb to my poison, or you apologize to Dustin and pay reparations.”

“We’ll never apologize!” Elena declared indignantly. However, as soon as she spoke, her headache intensified, and she groaned.

“I don’t care who you are! Hand over the antidote right now! Otherwise, you’ll suffer the consequences!” Eleanor attempted to continue with her threats.

“Consequences?” Abigail squatted down with a smile and looked at Eleanor quietly. She then said, “Your last name is Welch, right? If … I poisoned your entire family, what consequences exactly would I be suffering?”

“You wouldn’t!” Eleanor’s eyes widened. She was shocked and angry. This woman must be a psycho to threaten the entire Welch family! However, she somehow felt that Abigail might actually carry out such a threat.

“Try me.” Abigail smiled.

“After you die, I’ll make sure your entire family follows you. That way, you won’t be so lonely down there. What do you think? Aren’t I considerate?”

“You… You’re crazy!” Eleanor gritted her teeth, feeling her blood curdle.

“You have five minutes left to think about it.” Abigail put up five fingers and waved them in front of the three women.

She continued with a smile, “The poison will kill you all after five minutes, and it’ll be too late for regrets then.”

“You bitch! I’m one of the Moseys. If you kill me, the Moseys will never forgive you!” Julie screamed cowardly, hoping the Mosey name would instill fear.

“Oh? So what?” Abigail remained unmoved, “You won’t be alive to witness anything anyway. Why do you care what happens to me after?”

“You-!” Julie was exasperated. She was exactly like Dustin, unafraid of threats and retaliation because they had nothing to lose.

“I can’t take this any longer! My head is going to explode!” Elena grabbed her head, screaming as blood oozed from her nose.

face contorted hideously from the pain. It was possible that she was suffering the most due to her being the weakest.

“Don’t worry. Take a deep breath. There are three minutes left. It’ll be over before you know it.” Abigail reminded them kindly. However, the onlookers felt a chill run down their spines at her words.

“Handsome, what if something really happens to them?” Lana looked at Dustin, feeling apprehensive.

Abigail appeared innocent and cute, but her actions were insane. If the three women died here, their families would be furious. Everyone involved would suffer dire consequences then.

“Don’t worry. I’ll deal with anything that happens.” Dustin was calm. The women were prideful and cherished their lives. He was certain that they would give in soon.

“The antidote … Give me the antidote!”

“I was wrong. I’ll apologize! Give me the antidote!”

Tormented by the pain, Elena couldn’t take it any longer and started to cry for mercy. Abigail remained squatted, her hands supporting her chin. She showed no signs of reaction.

“My head is killing me! I can’t take it anymore either! I’m willing to apologize and pay reparations! Now give me the antidote!” Julie gave in as well.

Suffering humiliation was nothing compared to losing their lives. It wasn’t the first time, anyway. Abigail continued looking at Eleanor without any reaction.

“Eleanor! H-Hurry up and apologize! This woman is insane! If you don’t apologize, we’re going to die here!” Elena panicked and shouted in desperation.

“If you don’t speak soon, your friends are going to die,” Abigail said with a smile.

“Eleanor! What the hell are you doing? Just apologize already! Even if you want to die, don’t bring us down with you!” Elena roared at her. Why did she insist on keeping up the act? They were all the same and would give in in the end anyway.

“Fine! I’ll apologize! Give us the antidote!” Eleanor said through gritted teeth.

“That’s a good girl.” Abigail smiled and waved her hand. A faint green dust rose in the air and slowly descended like fine rain, falling on everyone. Their excruciating headaches finally subsided as they inhaled the dust, but their bodies remained weak.

“It’s time for your performance now.” Abigail clapped and stood to one side.

“I’m sorry! We were wrong. We shouldn’t have stirred up trouble. We’re willing to pay for the damages incurred here!” Eleanor glared at Dustin.

Although she was apologizing, she uttered the words with a resentful gaze. How dare a lowly scum of society make her apologize? She was going to make him pay for this humiliation a hundredfold!

After catching their breaths, Elena and Julie apologized as well. There was nothing they could do for now, but they would seek revenge next time.

“Forget about it. I’m in a good mood today and won’t hold it against you. Just pay 100 million in compensation for my mental distress,” Dustin stated calmly.

“What? 100 million? Why don’t you rob the bank instead?” Julie exclaimed in shock.

“What? Are you unwilling to pay?” Abigail narrowed her eyes. She said with a smile. “I have over a hundred types of poison with me. Do you want to try them out?”

“I” The corner of Julie’s mouth twitched. Instantly, she was rendered silent. She could only make a call to ask for the money. Regardless, she just had to get through this.

A moment later, several cars stopped at the entrance of Camron Medicals. Soon after, a man and a woman strode in confidently, accompanied by several bodyguards.

The man had a slender figure and was quite handsome. He also had protruding cheekbones. He also had thin lips, giving him a somewhat unfriendly look.

The woman, on the other hand, wore a red dress. She had a cold air to her, but she was stunning. As soon as she appeared, she captivated everyone present.

Even though Lana was a beauty ranked on the Beauty Ranking, she was overshadowed by the woman in red in both looks and presence.

“It’s her?” Dustin couldn’t help but frown slightly at the sight of the woman. That was because it was none other than his ex-wife, Dahlia Nicholson.

Chapter 718

“She’s so beautiful and dignified!”

“Who is this beautiful woman? Why haven’t I seen her before?”

“Just look at her posture and presence. She must be ranked high on the Beauty Ranking.”

Dahlia’s appearance caused quite a stir. Regardless of gender, everyone was captivated. Even though there were many beautiful women in the refined and sophisticated city of Oakvale, which was filled with talented individuals, a woman of her allure was a rare sight.

cool and noble temperament appeared almost otherworldly. It was as if she had just stepped out of a painting.

“Dahlia!” Upon seeing the newcomers, Julie’s face brightened as if she had encountered her savior. She immediately went up to greet them.

“I asked you to come here to discuss business. Instead, not only did you fail, but you also ended up having to pay 100 million for the damages. What exactly happened?” Dahlia asked coldly.

“I” Julie found herself at a loss of words. She couldn’t admit that she had flaunted the Mosey family’s badge, made a scene, and got schooled, could she?

“Ms. Nicholson, this was what happened…” Elena quickly reacted and exaggerated the situation as she explained.

When she was done, she added, “Ms. Nicholson, we were just offering him some friendly advice. Instead of being grateful, he even poisoned us and demanded compensation. He’s gone overboard!”

“Is that so? Who dares poison people so openly?” Dahlia questioned coldly.

“It’s Dustin and that woman! The two of them conspired all this!” Elena pointed at them. After seeing Dustin, Dahlia frowned. She was surprised. “It’s you? What are you doing here?”

Dahlia found it weird that she felt a sense of familiarity whenever she saw him. “Can’t I be here? I’m also a shareholder of Camron Medicals,” Dustin replied impassively.

“Dahlia, do you know this guy?” Suddenly, the mean-looking man beside her spoke up. This man was Scott Mosey, one of Seamus’s godsons. He was a brilliant businessman but was cunning and would do anything for profit.

“I’ve seen him a few times. We’re not close,” Dahlia said.

“I see,” Scott responded with a smile. His gaze toward Dustin turned colder. Since they weren’t close, he had nothing to worry about.

“Dustin, do you know the consequences of poisoning and extortion?” Dahlia asked coldly.

“I was the one who used poison. It has nothing to do with Sir. If you want to take revenge, come at me,” Abigail said bluntly.

“Dustin, are you not ashamed of letting a young lady take the blame for you?” Dahlia said with a sharp gaze.

“Ms. Nicholson, you accuse us as soon as you speak as if it was our fault. Why don’t you ask what your friends here have done?” Dustin asked calmly.

“Regardless of what they’ve done, it doesn’t justify your use of poison and harming people!” Dahlia claimed indignantly.

“So, what you mean is that only they can bully us, but we aren’t allowed to retaliate? So powerless people like us can only ever be terrorized and humiliated by powerful people like you?

“Is it a sin to even think about protecting ourselves?” Dustin mocked.

Despite losing her memories, Dahlia remained the same. She was still prejudiced and self-righteous. She never got the situation straight before jumping to conclusions.

“I don’t understand what you mean.” Dahlia frowned slightly.

“My people came today to discuss business. As a shareholder of Camron Medicals, you should treat them with courtesy instead of resorting to threats.

“We would naturally welcome them if they were guests. But if they are enemies, don’t blame us for being rude, “Dustin retorted.

“What? You’ve made a mistake and stirred up trouble, yet you don’t feel any remorse?” Dahlia frowned.

“Ms. Nicholson, this was a misunderstanding.” Lana suddenly stepped up and smiled apologetically.

“Ms. Amberson here insisted on cutting the line earlier. She even showed off the Mosey family badge, intimidating us in various ways.

“We resisted, but she threatened to damage our company instead. Dustin just acted impulsively in a fit of anger.”

“Is that so?” Dahlia turned toward Julie. Julie’s expression stiffened but she quickly put on a bold front and explained, “Dahlia, don’t listen to their nonsense!

“I came here to discuss business sincerely, but Dustin sought revenge and tried to kick us out. I was too angry and spoke a few harsh words, but nothing more!”

“That’s right, Ms. Dahlia. I can testify that it’s all Dustin’s fault!” Elena immediately spoke up.

“Dustin was not only acting unreasonably but also resorted to violence. Look at Julie’s face, it’s swollen!”

“Dahlia, I’ve never felt so insulted before. You must stand up for me!” Julie pleaded tearfully, looking aggrieved.

When Dahlia saw Julie’s swollen face with a clear handprint still visible, her expression grew dark. She questioned harshly, “Dustin, were you the one who hit Julie?”

“Yes, but only be-” Dustin was about to explain when Dahlia interjected.

“So, it was you! And here I thought others were pushing you around. It turned out that you were the bully! How dare you claim innocence?”

Dustin frowned, his expression turned grim. If it were any other person who said that, he wouldn’t have cared less. But it was from Dahlia, and her words cut him like a knife.

“Ms. Nicholson, everything has its reasons. You shouldn’t only listen to one side of the story.” Lana hurriedly explained when she saw the situation turning unfavorable.

“Everyone here witnessed the situation clearly. Ask anyone, and you’ll know the truth.”

“Alright! Then I’ll ask and find out who exactly is at fault!”

Dahlia glanced around before her gaze settled on a woman. She asked, “Miss, please tell me truthfully what happened earlier. Did Dustin initiate the fight?”

“Think carefully before you speak. Don’t fabricate stories. If you dare cover for Dustin, you’ll bear the consequences!” Elena warned.

The lady turned pale and nodded repeatedly. “That’s right, Dustin started the violence, and Ms. Amberson was the victim. I saw everything.”

“What?” Lana frowned when she heard her. She didn’t expect her to lie so boldly in public.

However, upon second thought, it seemed understandable. Who would dare offend two of Oakvale’s greatest families and one of the ancient houses?

Even if they did something wrong, it could be covered up with their influence.

“Dustin! What else do you have to say?” Dahlia’s expression turned cold when she got her answers.

She commanded, “I order you now to apologize and compensate Julie immediately. That way, you still have a way out. Otherwise, poisoning alone is enough for you to spend half of your life in prison!”

“Dustin, did you hear that? Get on your knees and apologize to me. Then, pay me 300 million in compensation for my mental distress.

“Otherwise, I’ll make sure you stay in prison forever!” Julie’s hands were on her hips, appearing domineering. With her cousin backing her, she had nothing to fear.

Julie might be a fake heiress, but her cousin was Sir Mosey’s favored god- daughter. He had entrusted over half of his businesses to her.

Dahlia’s current status was no less than that of Dragonmarsh’s princess. Everyone had to treat her with respect. Dustin might be capable, but he was nothing in front of Dahlia.

“Rhys! Dahlia is a prominent figure among the Moseys. You’d better think about your situation carefully!” Elena sneered, looking pleased with the turn of events..

Once Dustin apologized, she would take the opportunity to humiliate him. If he resisted, that would be even better. Because once he angered Dahlia, there would be no way out for him!

Dahlia wouldn’t even need to take action herself. There were plenty of people willing to lend a helping hand.

“Oh, Dustin, weren’t you pretty arrogant earlier? Finally, you’ve met your match. Let’s see how long you can keep that arrogance of yours!” Eleanor muttered to herself, her gaze filled with malice.

“Handsome, why don’t we just apologize? Otherwise, we might get into huge trouble. Being humiliated is better than losing our lives,” Lana advised softly.

She knew about Dahlia and Scott. Both of them were the core members of the Mosey family. They were powerful and influential and could dispatch the Mosey family forces freely.

Dahlia, in particular, controlled over half of the Moseys’ businesses and was set to inherit Seamus’s legacy. Lana couldn’t afford to offend such powerful people.

“Dustin! I’m giving you an opportunity right now, don’t be stubborn!” Dahlia ordered coldly. The act of poisoning is no small matter. But if Dustin admitted his mistake sincerely, she might consider letting the matter go.

However, if he remained stubborn, she wouldn’t bother showing mercy.

“I’m sick and tired of these words. The truth is clear to everyone present, so I won’t bother explaining further,” Dustin said indifferently.

“If you think I was wrong, so be it. As for apologizing and making amends, forgive me for being unable to do so. I’ve never had the habit of submitting to others.”

“A real man will apologize when they’ve done wrong. Your behavior is no different than a coward!” Dahlia rebuked.

She wouldn’t have said anything if it were anyone else. However, she felt a sense of resentment toward Dustin for failing to meet her expectations. She had hoped he would come to his senses rather than persist in his misguided courage.

“Dahlia, there’s no need to waste your breath on people like him. Just have him apprehended,” Scott suddenly sneered.

He continued, “People like him only bully the weak. He’ll come to his senses once we throw him into Azkaban.”

“That’s right! Apprehend him and throw him into Azkaban!” Julie and the other two women chimed in.

“Hey now You’d better not try anything foolish.”

Abigail stepped forward with a smile and said, “If you dare touch a hair on Sir’s head, I’ll kill all of you! And I’ll make sure it will be a very painful death.

Eleanor and Elena instinctively took two steps backward. They were still traumatized by their previous experience. This crazy woman couldn’t be dealt with using common sense. If they pushed too hard, it would only land them in trouble.

“Outrageous!”

Julie glared at her and yelled cowardly, “You crazy witch! Do you know who you’re talking to? This is my cousin. She is also Sir Mosey’s god-daughter! Threatening her is akin to suicide!”

“Is that so?” Abigail grinned and flicked her wrist, sending a black pill straight into Julie’s throat.

Chapter 719

Julie subconsciously swallowed. After she realized what had happened, she immediately pushed a finger down her throat in an attempt to vomit the pill out.

However, no matter how hard she heaved, it was useless. The moment the pill went into her mouth, it had already dissolved. At that moment, her expression shifted, and her voice trembled, “W- What… did you just give me?”

“Nothing, just some supplements,” Abigail replied with a smile.

“You’re lying! It’s obviously poison!” Julie panicked. “Oh hey, it seems like you’ve guessed it. Sorry.” Abigail’s smile never faltered.

“You witch! Give me the antidote!” Julie roared.

“I’d advise you to calm down since getting agitated would only speed up your death. Oh, by the way, this poison won’t take effect immediately.

“It will slowly torment you until your intestines rot and you perish,” Abigail explained.

“What?” Julie’s legs went numb. ” Dahlia save me!”

“You witch! How dare you harm a Mosey? You must have a death wish!” Scott’s expression darkened, and he reached out to grab Abigail by the throat.

Almost all of the Moseys practiced martial arts, and among Seamus’s godsons and god-daughters, Scott’s martial arts cultivation was considered top-notch.

Instead of avoiding him, Abigail opened up her palms and blew lightly. A faint white mist billowed out, enveloping Scott.

“Be careful! That’s poison!” Julie warned, but it was too late. Scott’s attack was too fast, so he could not dodge. He could only defend against it with his energy armor. Unexpectedly, the white mist penetrated his true energy and wafted into his mouth and nose.

“Ah!” Scott let out a miserable scream and immediately fell to the ground. His body convulsed as blood spewed from his mouth. His face contorted in unbearable pain.

“Why are you so irritable? Can’t we discuss things calmly?” Abigail said.

“You witch! How dare you poison Sir Mosey’s godson? You’re digging your own grave!” Julie was shocked and furious.

“Don’t worry. Even if I die, I’ll make sure to take all of you with me,” Abigail said with a smile.

“You-!” Julie was frightened and remained silent. Seeing Scott in pain and bleeding from his mouth, Dahlia frowned.

She suppressed her anger and demanded coldly, “I don’t care who you are. Hand over the antidote, and I’ll overlook what happened earlier.”

“Hah… I’m afraid it’s not up to you.” Abigail shook her head slightly. “Dustin, it’s still not too late for you to turn back before things escalate further. If something happens to Scott, even I won’t be able to save you,” Dahlia warned.

“You don’t need to worry about me. Just take good care of yourself, Ms. Nicholson,” Dustin said indifferently.

“Dustin, you know you aren’t a match for the Moseys. So why are you so stubborn?”

Dahlia frowned. “Is your dignity really more important than your life? It’s time to face reality! You can’t afford to offend these people. And there are things you should never do.

“Once you cross the line, only a dead end awaits you! Wake up!”

She didn’t understand why he wouldn’t appreciate her well-intentioned advice. Was it really that difficult to apologize?

Looking at Dahlia’s familiar face from the past, Dustin took a deep breath and said coldly, “Dahlia Nicholson, I’m not being stubborn. You’re the one who thinks you can never be wrong.

“What makes you think everything is my fault? And why do you assume I can’t afford to offend these people?”

Dahlia responded with a frown, ” Things have already come to this, and you’re still trying to argue? I’ve already investigated the matter, and it’s clearly your fault.

“Don’t think you can act arrogantly in Oakvale just because you have someone backing you. This place is full of hidden talents and influential people. It’s not a place where you can run wild!”

“Forget it. I’m too lazy to continue this argument. Think whatever you want.” Dustin shook his head, feeling tired.

There was nothing left for him to complain about when she was exactly the same as she was before she lost her memory.

“Dustin, what’s with your attitude? I’m giving you sound advice, but you just won’t listen! Will you only regret it when you land yourself in real trouble? “Dahlia lectured.

She had been extremely merciful, giving him various opportunities in hopes that he would come to his senses. Unfortunately, the results were the same.

“Abigail, neutralize the poison and let them leave. Don’t let them interfere with our business,” Dustin said impatiently, unwilling to be involved with them any longer.

He felt frustrated every time he encountered Dahlia. It seemed like the two of them were just not meant to be.

“Alright, I’ve played enough anyway. I’ll let you off today.” Abigail smiled and waved her hand gently. A mist entered Scott’s nostrils.

The pain-stricken Scott quickly found relief, but he looked extremely disheveled. His hair was a mess, he was drenched in sweat, and his face was covered in blood. He had lost his previous dignified demeanor.

“God damn it! How dare you poison me? You-!” Scott was enraged. He was about to hurl insults and threats at them when Dahlia raised a hand to stop him.

“Alright, that’s enough. Don’t escalate the situation lest you get poisoned again.”

Scott gritted his teeth, managing to suppress his anger in the end. Even though he was a martial artist, he was wary of poison experts.

Since he was defenseless against Abigail’s poison, threatening them would serve no purpose and potentially drive them to more desperate measures instead. However, he would not forgive this incident easily.

“What about me? Where’s my antidote? “Julie pointed at herself, asking repeatedly. “No need to be anxious. You won’t die for now. To prevent you from retaliating, I’ll have someone send over the antidote in three days,” Abigail said.

“What? I need to wait three days? What if I can’t hold on for that long?” Julie panicked.

“Then, that’s too bad,” Abigail replied seriously.

“You-!” Julie was exasperated but was afraid of angering Abigail.

She could only turn to Dahlia and plead, “Dahlia, what should we do? They haven’t given me the antidote.”

“I trust they won’t try anything foolish. We’ll just wait three days,” Dahlia said impassively.

“What?” Julie’s expression stiffened, and she almost cried. The thought of the deadly poison lurking in her body, ready to take her life at any moment, made her legs weak. There were still three days left; it was pure torture!

“Dustin, I won’t hold today’s events against you. But I hope you won’t land yourself in trouble again!” Dahlia spat out before turning around to leave.

“This isn’t over. Let’s see what happens moving forward!” Scott glanced resentfully at Dustin and Abigail before leaving with his entourage.

“Hey, handsome, it seems like we’ve landed ourselves in big trouble.” Lana looked worried as she watched them depart.

“Dealing with the Forrest and Welch families might be manageable with Mr. Dawson backing us up, but the Moseys are a different story.

“Both Dahlia and Scott are not individuals we can afford to offend.” She wasn’t too concerned about Dahlia since she had a good reputation and usually lived up to her promises. She probably wouldn’t hold this matter against them.

However, Scott was different. He had a notorious reputation in the business world, known for his vengeful nature and relentless pursuit of his goals. Offending a powerful man like him would undoubtedly bring them trouble.

“There’s no need to worry, Ms. Camron. We’re responsible for this mess. It’ll likely be directed at us if they come looking for trouble. The company won’t be affected,” Dustin said.

“Handsome, I’m not worried about implicating the company. I meant that you should stay out of the limelight to avoid retaliation,” Lana advised.

“How long would I need to avoid them? It wouldn’t solve anything in the long run. Besides, I’m not afraid of them retaliating.”

Dustin continued indifferently, “If they choose to let it go, then this matter would be put to rest. But if they insist on fighting till the end, I’ll make them regret it.”

“That’s right!” Abigail grinned. She continued excitedly, “If they try anything reckless, I’ll poison them all to death!”

“I see “Lana paled. She was at a loss for words. Common sense seemed to be a foreign concept to this crazy girl. Was she going to poison members of the Mosey family? If she unleashed her full madness, nothing could stop her.

“Abigail, be careful when using your poison in the future.” Right then, Dustin said seriously.

“I won’t interfere with your decisions, but I hope you won’t lose yourself.” As his only student, he didn’t wish for her to turn into a murderous maniac.

“Okay, okay, I got it!” Abigail hooked her arm around Dustin’s and said cheekily, “I’ll be careful in the future. I won’t randomly kill innocent people. I promise!”

“As long as you understand,” Dustin replied with a faint smile. He then turned his attention to Lana.” Ms. Camron, this is my student. She’s here to place orders for Dew Balm. Can you give her a discount?”

“What do you mean? We’re practically family now. There’s no need for a discount. Just take it for free,” Lana offered generously.

“Hehe! Thank you, beautiful lady!” Abigail cheered, her face lighting up.

“Favors are favors, and business is business. You can’t just give it away for free. Let’s at least charge her the production costs,” Dustin said seriously.

Abigail pouted immediately. She said pitifully, “Dustin, I’m very poor. My family is in dire straits. Can’t you do me a favor? I’m begging you!”

“You little money enthusiast. Even if you’re poor, do you lack these meager stuff?” Dustin was exasperated.

“Of course, I lack them! Do you know how expensive it is to produce poison? I only have a few pennies left on me,” Abigail said with a weak, pitiful look.

“Alright, alright. I already said it’s for free. In the worst case, I’ll cover the expenses myself!” Lana supported her strongly.

“Beautiful lady, you’re the best!” Upon hearing her, Abigail brightened and hugged Lana’s arm.

She made a face at Dustin. “Dustin, I’m underage. How can you haggle with a minor? You’re such a stingy man!”

“That’s right! Very stingy indeed!” Lana joined in, trying hard to suppress her laughter. Dustin appeared helpless as he listened to their banter. He was just about to say something when his phone rang.

Chapter 720

Dustin answered the call. It was from Ethan.

“Your Grace, I’m at the entrance of Camron Medicals. I have something important to report. Can we meet in person?” Ethan got straight to the point.

“Alright, I’ll be right out.” Dustin nodded and hung up without saying much.

“Ms. Camron, please take Abigail around for a stroll. I have something urgent to attend to,” Dustin said before walking out of the office.

He had only assigned Ethan two tasks. One was to find the medicinal herbs for treating Cinna, and the other was to investigate the truth from ten years ago. Both matters were crucial to him.

When Dustin stepped out of the building, he saw a plain black sedan parked across the street. The car window rolled down, revealing half of Ethan’s face as he waved to Dustin.

Dustin looked around and ensured no one noticed before entering the car. The car windows rolled up, and the car started. They began moving at a steady pace.

“Mr. Ethan, what’s the urgent matter that made you call for a meeting?” Dustin spoke first.

“Your Grace, I’ve already asked around for the whereabouts of the Iceheart Lotus and the Emerald Corolla. However, acquiring them poses a bit of a challenge.” Ethan didn’t beat around the bush.

“Oh?” Dustin raised an eyebrow, looking intrigued.

“With your connections, is it that hard to obtain two precious herbs?”

“If it were in the hands of ordinary dignitaries, I’d gladly present them to you without you needing to worry. Sadly, those two herbs are not someplace I can easily step into,” Ethan said solemnly.

“Where exactly are they that even you are so cautious?” Dustin grew more intrigued.

“Well, the Emerald Corolla you seek is currently in the Moseys mansion. It’s Anders Mosey’s personal item that he carries with him constantly.

“Since this treasure can enhance cultivation speed, Anders guards it closely and doesn’t allow anyone to touch it,” Ethan explained.

“Anders Mosey? Why does that name sound so familiar?” Dustin squinted, deep in thought.

“Anders is the Mosey family’s prodigy and one of Oakvale’s four princes. He is on par with Adam Spanner.

Extraordinarily talented and highly skilled, his military achievements reach far and wide.

“He is currently revered as the Veros Warrior by the people of Dragonmarsh, “Ethan explained with a serious expression.

Dragonmarsh had five Gods of War, each of them guarding a territory. Among them, the Goddess of War, Scarlet Spanner, was the most famous, demonstrating prowess no less than her male peers.

Meanwhile, the Veros Warrior, Anders Mosey, was hailed as the strongest. He was already a seasoned veteran of the battlefield in his early 30s, having spent over a decade in continuous wars. He was undefeated in countless battles, both large and small.

He had taken down tens of thousands of enemies, being the true adversary on the battlefield. His achievements and records made him unmatched among the younger generation.

Only the Spanner twins could barely top him.

“The Mosey family’s prodigy? One of Oakvale’s four princes?” After a few seconds of thinking deeply, Dustin suddenly remembered.

“Oh! I remember now! Isn’t he that guy who publicly challenged me all those years ago, only for me to end up defeating him in three moves?”

The corner of Ethan’s mouth twitched. For a moment, he was at a loss for words. Unintentional bragging was the scariest.

He almost overlooked the fact that the man before him was the Kirin who dominated all the young talents in Oakvale. He was an existence above all.

“Your Grace, times have changed. The Anders of today is no longer the naive youth of ten years ago.”

Ethan regained his composure and earnestly warned, “After a decade of honing his skills on the battlefield, Anders has become an unparalleled sword.

“His strength is indiscernible, and he’s nearly invincible in one-on-one combat.”

Ethan had sent his message across tactfully. Although Dustin was the Kirin, that was just his past glory.

Ten years had passed, and many things had changed. Even if Dustin was exceptionally talented, his growth was inevitably limited without the resources from the Rhys family.

Anders and the rest of them, however, were different. They received only the best resources and grooming, undergoing various specialized training and polishing. They were ahead of Dustin in every aspect, and that disparity would only grow more apparent with time.

Although Dustin was undoubtedly talented, he was slightly behind Anders. It would be tough to catch up on a gap of ten years.

“I understand what you mean, but I’ve never considered fighting him. I just want his Emerald Corolla,” Dustin said calmly.

“Your Grace, Anders sees the Emerald Corolla as a priceless possession. It would be challenging to take it from him.” Ethan shook his head. He had sent someone to inquire about it from Anders but only received one word in response-Scram!

“Since asking is not an option, we can resort to stealing,” Dustin said as he rubbed his chin.

“W-What?” Ethan was shocked.

“Your Grace, are you serious? Anders’ strength is beyond measure. Stealing something from him seems highly improbable!”

“Don’t worry about that. Just get someone to draw me a map of the Moseys’ mansion. I’ll find an opportunity to steal it,” Dustin said.

“Your Grace, isn’t it too risky? If you get caught, your identity will be exposed. When that happens, countless people will be out for your life!” Ethan broke out in a cold sweat.

The West Lucozian monarchy held considerable power and influence. However, for certain people, they posed a significant threat. As the Crown Prince of West Lucozia, Dustin was naturally a thorn in the eyes of these people.

The chaos from ten years ago was a clear example. It wasn’t an exaggeration to claim that Dustin would be fraught with danger and constant threats of assassination once. his identity was revealed.

Dustin remarked casually, “We must take risks to achieve our goals. Even if my identity was exposed, I’d make sure not to implicate the Langfords. You don’t need to worry.”

“Since this is what you have decided, I can only wish you the best of luck.” Ethan sighed in relief. As long as it didn’t implicate the Langfords, everything else was open for discussion.

“Oh, by the way, you only mentioned the Emerald Corolla. What about the Iceheart Lotus?” Dustin inquired.

“The Iceheart Lotus is in a place even more strictly guarded than the Moseys’ mansion,” Ethan said cryptically.

“According to the information I received, it should be hidden inside Aylka.”

“Aylka is huge. Where in Aylka exactly? “Dustin questioned.

“It’s most likely in … the national treasury,” Ethan said in a lowered voice. “The national treasury?” Dustin frowned slightly. “That truly poses a tougher challenge than the Moseys’ mansion.”

“Your Grace, you must never enter Aylka with your status. It’s dangerous there. Once you’re discovered, you might be unable to make it out!” Ethan warned.

“It looks like I’ll have to seek help.” Dustin narrowed his eyes. It was undoubtedly dangerous to enter Aylka before he investigated the place.

After all, Aylka was not only home to that unrivaled master within the palace gates but also to mysterious individuals with suspicious origins that not even the West Lucozian monarchy could trace.

“Who are you planning to seek help from, Your Grace?” Ethan inquired curiously.

“Mr. Ethan, are you sure you want to know? If you’re truly willing to step into these murky waters, I could tell you,” Dustin said with an ambiguous smile.

“No, no! I’d prefer not to know anything.” Ethan hastily waved his hands in fear.

To outsiders, he might hold a high position with overwhelming power. However, to the truly influential figures, he was nothing more than a pitiful pawn that could be discarded easily.

“Mr. Ethan, your cautious approach is truly commendable. It’s no wonder you are able to navigate the treacherous political scene skillfully,” Dustin teased.

“Your Grace, please, spare me. My life is practically hanging by a thread with me being in constant danger,” Ethan replied with a wry smile.

If it became known that he was assisting the West Lucozian monarchy, he would either be dismissed from his position or have his home raided.

But no matter the outcome, it would be a dead end for him. Navigating the court for so many years, he had offended numerous people. Once he lost power, countless people would surely seize the opportunity to take him down.

“Mr. Ethan, if I succeed in my goals, I’ll consider it a debt owed to the Langfords. If you run into trouble in the future, I will back you up,” Dustin assured.

“”Thank you, Your Grace!” Ethan’s expression brightened. At least he was getting rewarded. With the support of the West Lucozian monarchy, there would still be a way out for him even if something went wrong.

“Mr. Ethan, regarding the map of the Moseys’ mansion, it needs to be done as soon as possible. I don’t have much time left,” Dustin reminded.

“Don’t worry, Your Grace. I will make sure to deliver it to you before nightfall today.” Ethan promised.

“Oh, by the way, is Anders in Oakvale?” Dustin asked another question.

“It’ll be Sir Mosey’s birthday celebration banquet in a few days. He should be back by then,” Ethan replied.

“Very well, I need detailed information on him, including his interests, preferences, personal habits, and any special abilities he might possess. Find as much information as possible,” Dustin instructed.

“No problem.” Ethan nodded.

“Alright, that’s all for now. I’ll contact you if there’s anything else.”

Dustin raised his hand, signaling the driver to stop. He then hailed a taxi and headed back to Camron Medicals.

On the way back, Dustin dialed an unfamiliar number. After a moment, the call finally connected, and a woman’s voice came through. “Who are you?”

“Logan,” Dustin replied.

“Oh, it’s you.” The woman raised her voice slightly.

“I heard from Nestor that you were still alive, but I didn’t quite believe him. I didn’t expect it to be true. You actually survived your injuries. Impressive.”

“I didn’t call you to reminisce about old times. I need your help,” Dustin said indifferently. “My help? Let me be clear. If this is about what happened ten years ago, I won’t be of much assistance.

“Even though your mom helped me before, it doesn’t mean I’ll repay you with my life,” the woman said bluntly.

“Relax, it has nothing to do with that. I just need you to get me a medicinal herb from the national treasury,” Dustin said.

“Oh? Which herb?” The woman was curious.

“The Iceheart Lotus,” Dustin said.

“That wouldn’t be a problem.” Her tone then changed, “Are you sure, though? I only owe your family one favor.

“This will be the only time I will be helping you. Do you think it’s worth it to exchange my favor for a single medicinal herb?”

“Absolutely, I need it to save a life,” Dustin stated.

“Alright, since you’ve made up your mind, I won’t say more. I’ll get someone to deliver the herb to you tomorrow. Just give me an address,” the woman said.

“Regal Court. Just get your men to call me once they arrive.”

“Alright, that’s settled then. Good luck. “With that, the woman hung up.

Dustin put away his phone, looking deep in thought. Getting the Iceheart Lotus should be fine with that woman’s help. The biggest problem now was the Emerald Corolla.

Breaking into the heavily guarded Mosey mansion to steal was risky and likely to raise suspicions. His best option was to enter openly under the pretext of congratulating Seamus on his birthday. He would then discreetly approach Anders and seize the opportunity to steal the Emerald Corolla.

Since there would be many people on the day of the banquet, he would be less likely to be suspected, even if something went missing.

Chapter 721

Of course, to be safe, he had to seek assistance from someone else. Time flew by quickly, and three days had passed. During this time, Camron Medicals became increasingly popular, with countless people coming to buy their ointments every day.

Some had initially anticipated a spectacle, thinking that offending the Moseys would surely bring calamity.

However, after three days, there was no movement from the Moseys, and everything remained calm and peaceful. Camron Medicals continued to thrive and made significant profits.

It was worth mentioning that Harmony Healers was rebuilt, and all that was left was to renovate and add the finishing touches.

Dustin only took care of the financial aspects and left the operational details to a professional team. There was nothing for him to worry about.

Additionally, with the help of the person from the palace, Dustin had gotten his hands on the Iceheart Lotus without trouble. All he needed left was the Emerald Corolla, which he had already devised a plan and made necessary preparations.

Three days later, early in the morning in the Inner City of Oakvale, the Moseys ‘mansion was already adorned with festive decorations. The atmosphere was joyful and celebrative.

Many high-ranking officials had come early to greet Seamus because today was his 50th birthday.

As one of the three great princes from a different lineage, Sir Mosey, also known as Seamus Mosey, might not be as powerful as the Prince of West Lucozia, but he had a widely renowned reputation.

He was granted the title of prince at age 35 and retired from the military at age 36. He was known for his generosity, fostering good relationships, establishing schools, adopting orphans, and dedicating his savings to charitable deeds.

Throughout Oakvale, it didn’t matter if it was a friend or foe; the mere mention of Seamus invoked the admiration of all. He was a hero serving both the country and its people, and his life fully embodied the spirit of chivalry.

The only regret was that, despite having numerous siblings, he had no children of his own. He lived alone up until now.

Perhaps, due to this, Seamus had adopted many foster sons and daughters, most of whom were exceptionally talented. Among them, Anders stood out the most.

Anders had been conferred the title of the Veros Warrior, with outstanding military achievements that echoed far and wide. He even surpassed Seamus’s achievement during his prime.

As time passed, more high-ranking officials and wealthy dignitaries arrived to greet Seamus on his birthday. After disguising themselves, Dustin and Abigail mingled within the mansion.

“Dustin, it’s really lively here. All these guests must be pretty rich.” Abigail was excited. With her disguise, she appeared more mature and average- looking.

“Of course. Those invited to the birthday banquet are either high- ranking officials or wealthy tycoons. There’s not a single ordinary person among them,” Dustin replied.

“Doesn’t that mean I could extort a hefty sum if I kidnap a few of them?” Abigail’s gaze wandered around, seemingly searching for potential prey.

The corner of Dustin’s eyes twitched, and he immediately warned her, ” Abigail, you’d better not try anything foolish. We have serious business to attend to.”

“Hehe! I was just joking. I’m a law- abiding citizen. How would I ever do such a thing?” Abigail chuckled.

She muttered to herself, “Only fools would kidnap them in public. I usually act in the dark.”

“Abigail, the Moseys’ mansion is filled with elite fighters. There will also be plenty of influential figures arriving. You must be careful not to expose yourself,” Dustin reminded her sternly.

Even though they had disguises on, there were plenty of extraordinary individuals among the Moseys. If their identities were discovered, it could lead to trouble.

Abigail, especially, was the Mystic Arts Order’s Grand Sorceress. In the eyes of the court and righteous individuals, she was a condemned witch that they would gladly eliminate. So, they must be cautious.

“Don’t worry, Dustin. I’m not a kid. I know what to do. Relax. I won’t put you in trouble.” Abigail scanned the area rapidly, almost drooling at the sight of the wealthy individuals.

“Relax? You must be joking!” Dustin was frustrated and knocked on Abigail’s head with his knuckles. He shouldn’t have brought her here. This little money enthusiast seemed to see everyone as a walking money tree.

“Dustin, look! It’s so lively over there.” Suddenly, Abigail noticed something and pointed at the entrance. Dustin followed her gaze and saw a fully armed, elite guard team entering grandly. Leading the group was a man in his early 30s.

He had sharp eyebrows and a stern face, giving off a fierce, domineering presence. He looked especially majestic and heroic in his gold-trimmed general’s uniform.

Wherever he went, the crowd automatically made way and greeted him with respect.

“Who’s that? How dare he lead soldiers into the mansion? He’s got nerves of steel!”

“Are you new to Oakvale? Don’t you even recognize the famous Veros Warrior?”

“What? That’s the Veros Warrior? No wonder he looks so imposing!”

The crowd whispered among themselves, unable to take their eyes off him. While many people had heard of Anders Mosey, few had actually seen him.

Most of the time, he was stationed in the eastern frontier, only returning to Oakvale to visit his adoptive father on special occasions. Since it was Seamus’s birthday celebration today, naturally, he would be present.

“I’m going to change. Bring the gift I prepared for Father into the hall,” Anders instructed as he entered the gates.

His guards immediately lifted a cage into the guest lounge. The cage was covered with a black cloth, so they couldn’t see what was inside, but Dustin caught the faint smell of a wild beast.

“Dustin, it seems like there’s a wild beast in the cage.” Abigail noticed as well.

“Gifting a beast instead of gold and jewels on his father’s birthday. Interesting.” Dustin chuckled, carefully observing Anders.

He had indeed changed drastically compared to ten years ago. Without prior knowledge of his identity, recognizing him would be a challenge.

“Dustin, is he our target?” Abigail sized him up.

“That’s right. Get your team ready. The Emerald Corolla is on him. But don’t take it by force; we have to resort to stealth,” Dustin whispered.

“No problem!” Abigail took out her phone and sent a message discreetly.

“Hmm?” Anders suddenly turned around at that moment as if he had sensed something. His sharp gaze locked onto Dustin and Abigail.

Dustin was surprised at his heightened senses but maintained his composure. He behaved like an ordinary guest, saluting immediately.

Instead of leaving, Anders headed straight for Dustin and Abigail. He asked coldly, “What are your names?”

As he spoke, his personal guards had already surrounded Dustin and Abigail. Their gazes were menacing.

“Greetings, Sir Anders.” Dustin lowered his head and replied, “My name is Rhet Adams. And this is my sister, Abigail Adams.”

“You look familiar. Have we met before? “Anders questioned. His gaze was as sharp as a knife as he scrutinized Dustin from top to bottom as if trying to see through him.

“When you returned victorious last year, Sir Mosey held a grand banquet. I had the honor to visit and witness your impressiveness.

“I didn’t expect you to remember me still. I’m truly flattered!” Dustin pretended to be fearful. His statement was partially true. It was true that Anders had won a significant battle last year and hosted a celebration banquet, inviting many guests.

Dustin, of course, had no time to attend. It was information provided by Ethan. To be on the safe side, he had memorized the details thoroughly, and it now came in handy.

“Is that so?” Anders narrowed his eyes, staring at Dustin intently. After a while, he finally looked away.

“Seems like I got the wrong person.” With that, he left with his entourage without hesitation.

“Dustin, it seems like this person won’t be easy to deal with.” Abigail’s expression grew solemn as she watched him leave.

To be able to sense an unfriendly gaze from such a distance was frightening. If an assassin were planning a sneak attack, they might be dead even before having the chance to make a move.

“He naturally isn’t ordinary since he could become Dragonmarsh’s God of War. How could he roam the battlefield for so many years if he lacked the skills?

“Dustin said with a faint smile. Anders Mosey was known as the strongest among the five God of Wars. Dustin couldn’t gauge his real strength without actually facing him.

Ethan was right. Ten years had passed, and Anders was no longer the same person. On the other hand, Dustin lacked resources and support from the West Lucozian monarchy, and his cultivation. had suffered a significant setback because of it.

Therefore, he didn’t have much of an advantage when facing similarly outstanding peers.

“Dustin, what if I use one of my poisons to knock him out? Then we can grab the Emerald Corolla,” Abigail suggested, “No need. It’s too risky. Let’s just stick to our original plan,” Dustin declined flatly. Anders was undoubtedly a full-fledged grandmaster. Poisoning him would be a challenging feat, given his skill level. Besides, his sharp senses would likely alert him of any suspicious activity.

“Alright, we’ll go with your plan.” Abigail gave in without further insistence. Anders may be skilled, but the methods of the Mystic Arts Order could still be effective against him.

“Let’s sit in the guest lounge and observe how things unfold.” Dustin smiled and led Abigail into the banquet hall.

The banquet hall was filled with numerous high-ranking officials, with endless guests coming and going. Dustin and Abigail had just entered when several women headed their way.

One of the women was deeply engrossed in conversation and wasn’t looking at where she was going. She ended up colliding with Dustin on his chest. The woman exclaimed and staggered back a few steps before falling to the ground. She grimaced in pain.

“Who the hell is so blind to run into me? Do you have a death wish?” The woman on the ground cursed. Dustin frowned when he recognized the woman. It seemed fate was playing with him, for he had encountered another acquaintance.

The woman who fell was none other than his former mother-in-law, Florence Franklin.

Chapter 722

Looking at that detestable face of the past, Dustin frowned. He had expected to encounter familiar faces at this place. And the whole reason he disguised himself was to avoid having his identity exposed.

However, he never expected to cross paths with Florence and her group in such an unfortunate manner. Fortunately, she didn’t recognize him. Intending to diffuse the situation, Dustin apologized, “I’m sorry for not paying attention just now. Are you hurt?

“Hmph! You must be blind!”

Florence dusted herself off as she got up from the ground. She shouted arrogantly, “Do you know who I am? How dare you run into me? You must be tired of living!”

social standing was no longer what it was before. Anyone who offended her now was essentially seeking their demise.

“Hey! You were the one who didn’t watch where you were going! How can you be so unreasonable and blame us when you were the one who ran into us? “Abigail was indignant.

“Who the hell are you? How dare you point fingers at me?”

Florence glared at Abigail, her tone becoming more aggressive. “I order you to apologize to me right now and compensate me for my mental distress. Otherwise, I’ll make sure you regret it!”

“Haha… Trying to intimidate us, are we? If we don’t, what are you going to do about it?” Abigail smirked.

“You wench! How dare you talk back? Do you know what I’m going to do to you?” Florence was aggressive.

“A word of advice-apologize and pay up. Otherwise, you’ll be in big trouble!” Suddenly, Julie, who was standing beside Florence, spoke up.

The Moseys’ mansion was their territory. No matter the person, everyone was expected to obediently comply with their orders.

“I’m sorry for my carelessness. I hope you won’t hold it against us. I’m willing to compensate for your distress,” Dustin said humbly.

Under normal circumstances, he wouldn’t have backed down. However, he had more important things to attend to today and was eager to pull himself out of this situation and this shrew of a woman.

“Your apology won’t cut it! She needs to apologize too!”

Florence pointed at Abigail and demanded, “She was disrespectful to me earlier and must be responsible for her actions!”

“Abigail, apologize,” Dustin signaled.

“Fine, I was wrong. I spoke out of turn and offended you. I’m sorry, okay?” Abigail apologized reluctantly.

“Hmph! Do you think a simple apology is enough? What do you take me for?”

Florence cocked her head up and demanded arrogantly, “I want you to kneel and apologize to me. Then slap yourself ten times. Only then will I let you go!”

Dustin frowned. This shrew was really pushing it. Did she really think she was nobility?

“Hey! I’m warning you. Don’t push it.” Abigail narrowed her eyes. If Florence didn’t appreciate her apology, she didn’t mind giving her a lesson.

“Hmph! So what if I do? I’m a distinguished guest here, and my daughter is Sir Mosey’s goddaughter.” What makes you insignificant people think you can challenge me?” Florence asked, hands on her hips.

The commotion had attracted the attention of quite a few people. And the distinguished guests had broken out into whispers.

“Lady, it’s Sir Mosey’s birthday celebration today. We bear no grudges against each other, so how about we resolve this peacefully? We wouldn’t want to spoil Sir Mosey’s mood,” Dustin tried to persuade her.

“Cut the crap! I told you to apologize! Don’t make me lose my temper!” Florence screamed, completely disregarding the occasion.

“If you insist on being this unreasonable, I have nothing more to say. I have a clear conscience, and I di refuse to believe you will make a scene here,” Dustin stated coldly.

He had been extremely tolerant, even lowering himself to apologize.

Florence didn’t know when to stop and insisted on escalating the situation. At this point, Dustin could tolerate no more.

“All right, seems like you won’t learn your lesson till you hit a dead end! Guards! Guards! These two troublemakers are causing a disturbance! They even resorted to violence against me! Arrest them immediately!” Florence shouted.

Following her orders, guards at the entrance immediately surrounded Dustin and Abigail.

Dahlia was now a prominent figure among the Moseys. As her mother, Florence was considered a distinguished guest who enjoyed a high status. There were not many people who dared to offend them.

“Hold on!”

Just as the two sides were about to clash, Dahlia suddenly walked in and exclaimed darkly, “What’s going on here? Why are you drawing weapons? Don’t you know what day it is today?”

“Dahlia, you arrived just in time!”

Florence began complaining immediately upon seeing her. “These two were deliberately causing a scene. They even laid their hands on me.

“They have absolutely no respect for the Moseys. Hurry up and arrest them before they disrupt Sir Mosey’s birthday celebration,” Florence lied, distorting the truth skillfully.

“Who are you people? How dare you cause trouble at the Moseys’ mansion? “Dahlia shifted her attention to Dustin and Abigail, looking upset.

“Ms. Nicholson, we aren’t the ones causing trouble. It’s your mother who’s being unreasonable,” Dustin said calmly.

“We came here to congratulate Sir Mosey on his birthday. However, as soon as we entered, your mother bumped into us.

“She demanded an apology and compensation. We apologized and were willing to compensate. But she went too far, asking us to kneel and slap ourselves. It’s just too much.”

“Huh? Is that so?” Dahlia frowned slightly as she turned to her mother.

“Dahlia, don’t listen to his nonsense! It was clear that he deliberately bumped into me and provoked me on purpose.

“Just look at him! He’s obviously not a good person!” Florence kept up the act. With the Moseys backing her up, even if she was in the wrong, she could turn it around.

“Ms. Nicholson, everyone present can tell right from wrong. I believe the Moseys are not people who misuse their influence,” Dustin remarked calmly.

Dahlia frowned at his words. The person before her spoke calmly and logically and didn’t appear to be lying. Considering the expressions of those around her, she could guess who was at fault. After all, no one would be so foolish to cause a scene at Moseys’ mansion.

“Dahlia, this guy is deceiving the public! Arrest him immediately and throw him into prison!” Florence yelled.

“Silence!” Dahlia glared at her. “Today is Godfather’s birthday celebration. All the guests here are high-ranking officials and nobles. Can you not make a scene?”

The Moseys had a great reputation far and wide. If it became known that the Moseys were terrorizing their guests, it would have extremely negative consequences.

“How am I making a scene? That brat is clearly at fault.” Florence appeared aggrieved. However, under her daughter’s stern gaze, her voice grew faint as she started feeling guilty.

“I don’t care whose fault it is! This matter ends here. Anyone who continues this argument won’t like what’s going to happen to them!” Dahlia said darkly.

Even though Florence was dissatisfied, she refrained from arguing. Everything she had today was thanks to her daughter. Naturally, she wouldn’t dare go against her wishes.

After dealing with Florence, Dahlia turned to Dustin and said calmly, “Dear sir, miss, I’m very sorry for what happened earlier. I assure you there won’t be a next time. My apologies again for the disturbance.”

After she spoke, she lowered her head slightly to show her sincerity. The crowd nodded in approval as they watched her apology.

As Sir Mosey’s goddaughter, her status was second only to him. And offering a public apology was a level of humility not easily found. Her awareness of putting the situation first made the public realize that Sir Mosey had put his trust in the right person.

“There’s no need for such formality, Ms. Nicholson. We never wanted to make the situation worse. Having this resolved peacefully was the best outcome we could ask for.” Dustin nodded slightly.

“Sir, you are indeed a sensible man. May I ask for your name?” Dahlia asked politely.

“I’m Rhett Adams. And this is my sister, Abigail Adams,” Dustin replied.

“Mr. and Ms. Adams, welcome. You are our guests, so please take a seat upstairs.” Dahlia nodded. As she spoke, she gestured for a waiter and arranged front seats for Dustin and Abigail.

“Thank you.” Without hesitation, Dustin led Abigail to their seats in the front row. They had drawn quite the attention, but luckily, it didn’t escalate into a full- blown conflict. It seemed unlikely to affect their plans.

“Dahlia, why were you so kind to them? I’d have kicked them out. They’re clearly no one important,” Florence complained.

“Are you not ashamed of your words?” Dahlia gave her a cold glance.

“Don’t you know what would have happened if the situation escalated? Once word gets out, the Moseys will be known as bullies. And the reputation Godfather had built for a decade would be tarnished!”

“It’s not that serious. We were just teaching two ignorant people a lesson. What does it have to do with Sir Mosey’s reputation?” Florence thought Dahlia was making a mountain out of a molehill.

“Not that serious? Open your eyes and look around you. Who are the people in attendance today?” Dahlia was disappointed.

She went on, “Creating such an absurd spectacle in the presence of these influential people is a slap to Godfather’s face.

“Did you even think of the consequences if someone with malicious intent took advantage of the situation and spread damaging news?”

As the saying went, “great power invited great scrutiny”. The Moseys drew considerable attention, and they had to approach every matter carefully. They had to prevent others from gaining the upper hand to prevent any potential threat.

“I… How would I know there would be consequences? Besides, it wasn’t my fault,” Florence said guiltily.

“That’s enough!” Dahlia frowned.

“I don’t care what the reason was, but all of you must remember one thing. You must think about the bigger picture today. Don’t do anything that would damage the Moseys’ reputation. Do you hear me?”

“We understand.” Florence, Julie, and the rest nodded repeatedly. They finally realized the gravity of the situation. While they were used to being arrogant in the past, they had to restrain themselves for today’s special occasion.

“Alright, now grab a seat for yourselves. And don’t cause any more trouble,” Dahlia reminded them before returning to her tasks.

As she was now in charge of more than half of the Moseys’ businesses, she had become the family’s de facto manager.

More guests had arrived as time passed. Influential figures were walking into the guest lounge one after the other.

As noon approached, Sir Mosey, the birthday star, finally made his formal entrance. Under the gaze of the crowd, a middle-aged man in traditional clothing walked in with a gentle smile.

He had a slightly plump figure, kind eyes, and lacked the imposing aura of an authoritative figure, appearing quite down-to-earth.

At first glance, he seemed like a regular middle-aged man from the neighborhood. However, as soon as he entered, all of the guests in the hall stood up.

“Greetings, Sir Mosey!” they said respectfully in unison.

“Alright, alright, there was no need for that. Please take a seat and make yourselves at home,” Seamus said with a warm smile.

Chapter 723

While speaking, Seamus waved in all directions. He didn’t look authoritative whatsoever.

“That’s the legendary Sir Mosey? He looks different from what I imagined.” Abigail was puzzled as she gazed at the friendly, plump man in front of her.

She had imagined a prince to be imposing and dignified. A figure that would command respect with just a glance. She was slightly disappointed with Seamus’ appearance and temperament.

“Are you thinking that he doesn’t match the image of a prince?” Dustin asked with a smile.

“Yeah, he looks no different from a regular guy. Quite a contrast to Anders. “Abigail nodded.

“Your judgment might be a bit off.”

Dustin shook his head. “Anders is indeed impressive. Even so, his success is ultimately rooted in the support of an influential figure. That gives him not only a head start but a relatively smooth path.

“Sir Mosey, on the other hand, built himself from the bottom up. He rose to the status of a prince solely through his efforts. He is the true hero!”

Anders owed a considerable portion of his success to Sir Mosey’s connections and resources, making the two incomparable. “That does make sense.” Abigail nodded thoughtfully.

“As for his image, it’s simply not something someone of Sir Mosey’s caliber would concern themselves with.

Dustin sighed regretfully. “In fact, things like fame, wealth, prestige, and even power have lost much importance to them.”

“What could be more important than money?” Abigail asked.

“They care more about relationships and emotional fulfillment,” Dustin replied. It suddenly clicked for Abigail. “Oh, I understand now. So, that’s why he took in so many godsons and goddaughters.”

“I guess you can say that.” Dustin smiled.

“By the way, Dustin, how do you know so much?” Abigail was curious.

“Me? I was just guessing.” Dustin shrugged. For some people, relationships were just more important as they aged. They might have been indifferent in their youth, but relationships would take precedence over everything else in their later years.

“Ladies and gentlemen, it is truly an honor to host you at my modest home today. Kindly pardon any shortcomings on our part.”

As Seamus walked through the entrance, he greeted everyone back with courteous nods. Regardless of the guests’ status or influence, he treated everyone equally without a hint of favoritism. After exchanging pleasantries, Seamus finally took his seat.

Right then, Anders, who was now dressed in casual attire, strode into the room confidently. His entrance attracted everyone’s attention.

“Godfather, it’s your big day today. I wish you good health and a long life!” Anders greeted respectfully with a salute.

“Anders, you’re an important figure who guards the eastern frontiers. There was no need for you to rush home for such a small event,” Seamus said meaningfully.

“Your birthday is no small event to me. Besides, the eastern frontier is under control. There shouldn’t be any issues. There’s no need to worry, Godfather,” Anders replied respectfully.

“That’s good to hear,” Seamus nodded.

“Godfather, this time, I brought home a special gift from the eastern frontier as your birthday gift. I hope you like it,” Anders clapped his hands as he spoke.

Soon, a group of burly men carried a cage inside. It was covered with a black cloth. They lowered the cage to the ground, and it landed with a resounding thud. The impact shook the drinks on the table.

“Godfather, please have a look!”

Anders grabbed the black cloth and pulled it down forcefully, revealing the contents of the cage to everyone.

When the black cloth fell, a stir swept through the crowd. They were astonished to discover that the iron cage contained a ferocious beast-a creature resembling a tiger but with a much larger build.

It had pitch-black fur that emitted a metallic sheen and two long protruding fangs. Each was about a foot in length, resembling sharp swords. The claws on its paws extended like steel talons with traces of blood and flesh clinging to them.

It looked extremely intimidating, sending shivers down the spines of the onlookers. Fortunately, the beast remained in a deep slumber, displaying no signs of aggression.

“Godfather, this is an Onyxclaw that I captured from the ancient forests of the eastern frontier. It is the king of beasts and is extremely ferocious.

“It’s not only powerful, but its fur is also incredibly tough, immune to blades and bullets. It’s truly a rare creature.

“It took me quite the effort to capture this creature successfully. Do you like it?” Anders declared loudly as he patted the Onyxclaw’s head.

“Well done! My son is indeed a courageous man to be able to capture such a rare and formidable beast. I’m pleased.” Seamus laughed heartily.

“As expected of the Veros Warrior. It’s incredible that he was able to capture an Onyxclaw to keep as a pet!”

“Who else in Oakvale could do what he did?”

The guests showered Anders with praises. While traditional birthday gifts consisted of gold, silver, antiques, and the like, Anders had presented a rare beast as a gift. This unexpected choice highlighted his exceptional talents.

“Godfather, legend says that an Onyxclaw has spiritual abilities and is capable of distinguishing between good and evil. It can protect you if you keep it by your side,” Anders explained.

“Oh? Is that so?” Seamus was surprised.

“If you don’t believe me, you can try it out,” Anders said with a smile.

“And how should I do that?” Seamus was curious.

“It’s simple. I’ll open the cage later and release the Onyxclaw. It could detect a wicked person’s presence immediately, “Anders answered.

“Release the Onyxclaw?” Seamus raised an eyebrow. He was hesitant.

“Isn’t that too risky? It’ll be bad if it loses control and harms the guests.”

“There’s no need to worry, Godfather. I’ve tamed the Onyxclaw. Unless it encounters an extremely treacherous bastard, it won’t harm anyone. Besides, with me here, it wouldn’t dare act out of line.” Anders was confident.

“What do you all think?” Instead of responding directly, Seamus turned his attention to the crowd.

“It won’t hurt to try. It’s a rare opportunity for us to see such an exotic beast.”

“I agree. With the Veros Warrior here, I’m sure we’ll be safe.”

“Sir Mosey, since the beast has spiritual abilities, it might even unveil a few wrongdoers.”

The crowd expressed their support. While they’d seen plenty of treasure, it was the first time they’d seen an exotic beast of its kind. Since they had the chance to experience something new, they were unwilling to pass it up.

After all, there were numerous guards present, and they were Dragonmarsh’s strongest protectors. No matter how ferocious the beast was, they believed that the creature wouldn’t create much trouble.

“Alright, since everyone seems interested, let’s give it a try.”

Seamus nodded with a smile. “Anders, open up the cage and let the guests have a closer look. But be sure to ensure their safety at all times and prevent anyone from getting hurt.”

“Understood.” Anders answered and immediately asked for someone to unlock the cage.

After the cage opened, he took out a vial and twirled it in front of the beast’s nose. Soon, a faint green smoke emanated from the vial, wafting slowly through its nostrils.

After a moment, the slumbering Onyxclaw slowly opened its eyes. At the same time, a fully armed team of guards surrounded it, keeping vigilant for a reaction. They would restrain it immediately if they noticed any abnormality or aggressive behavior.

The Onyxclaw seemed aware of its surrounding threat and dared not make any sudden movements. It laid down obediently in the presence of the guards.

“Come out!” Anders shouted. The Onyxclaw snorted and walked leisurely out of the iron cage. Its massive body resembled a tiny mountain, giving off oppressive dominance.

Anders, tall as he was, appeared small in front of the Onyxclaw. It seemed as though it could swallow him in a single gulp.

“I heard you can discern good from evil. Now, show everyone your abilities. Of course, if you dare to misbehave, I’ll have you slaughtered for soup!” Anders ordered coldly.

Upon hearing this, the Onyxclaw’s fur bristled slightly. It instinctively moved away from Anders, clearly fearful of him.

“Go on.” Anders patted its body. The Onyxclaw dared not disobey and started roaming around under the surveillance of the guards. It occasionally sniffed the air as if looking for something.

Gazing at the Onxyclaw’s massive figure, many high-ranking officials and noblemen were both excited and nervous. After all, a creature of its kind was a rare sight. If they keep one as a pet, it would be a significant show of power.

“This thing looks really terrifying. Thank goodness the Veros Warrior has tamed it. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have dared get this close.”

“Considering its size, it’s probably two or three times larger than a regular tiger. It would just need one bite to eat a person whole.”

“Wow! This is truly exhilarating!”

The crowd whispered among themselves, expressing all kinds of emotions. Some were fearful, some were delighted, while others were amazed. A few daring youths even reached out to touch its fur.

While the Onyxclaw was displeased, it refrained from making a huge reaction. On the contrary, those who touched the Onyxclaw’s fur were ecstatic, their faces filled with pride.

“Dustin, can this Onyxclaw really tell good from evil as Anders claimed?” Abigail asked in a whisper.

“While it’s true that the Onyxclaw possesses spiritual abilities, it only has the intelligence of a ten-year-old child. If even humans find it challenging to tell good from evil, how could a beast pull off such a feat?” Dustin shook his head slightly.

“If that’s the case, why is Anders putting on this show?” Abigail was puzzled.

“We’ll find out soon enough,” Dustin replied with a faint smile. The West Lucozian monarchy used to keep exotic beasts too. Those beasts were highly intelligent creatures.

Even though they couldn’t speak, they were able to understand the human language with some training. The more docile beasts could even aid in combat. But that was about it.

Claims of them being able to distinguish good from evil were often exaggerated. And some exotic animal traffickers were able to inflate the prices of these creatures with the help of those rumors.

The attention-grabbing Onxyclaw continued to move through the crowd without stopping. It was only when it reached Dustin and Abigail that it suddenly stopped.

Its dark pupils emitted an eerie gaze as it stared directly at them. Its unusual behavior drew the crowd’s attention, and even Dustin felt slightly uneasy.

It couldn’t be. Was this beast really that impressive?

Chapter 724

Abigail was weirded out and felt uneasy as she watched the Onyxclaw come to a stop. She wasn’t afraid. She was just worried that her identity would be exposed.

“Dustin, didn’t you say it couldn’t distinguish between good and evil? Why did it stop in front of us? Did it realize something?” Abigail squeaked through her teeth.

“It’s just a coincidence. Don’t worry, relax. It’ll leave soon,” Dustin reassured her gently. He had just finished speaking when the Onyxclaw suddenly lowered its head, and its long canine almost touched Dustin’s head.

It breathed heavily onto Dustin’s face. It felt warm but gave off a pungent smell. Dustin held his breath and muttered silently, “Buddy, you’d better not mess around, or I’ll kill you.”

Seemingly sensing Dustin’s threat, the Onyxclaw snorted and shifted its massive head toward Abigail. She clenched her fists, barely holding back the urge to strike.

The Onyxclaw was close to the size of an elephant. With its proximity, one bite could easily snap off Abigail’s head. This creature was stepping out of line.

“What’s going on? Why did the Onyxclaw stop in front of them? Are they the so-called wicked people?”

“Let’s see what it does next. If it acts further, their identities might indeed be suspicious.”

The guests whispered amongst themselves and pointed fingers. Since the Onyxclaw moved through the large crowd earlier without incident, it was odd that it chose to stop in front of Dustin and Abigail.
