‘Angela and I were discussing suggestibility,’ Judy said. She sounded odd, and not just to me. Colin frowned, staring at her. ‘Why don’t you suggest something, Colin?’

The frown deepened. ‘Like what?’ He asked gruffly.

Judy looked at me thoughtfully. I looked back, my skin hot, my innards churning. ‘Imagine a genie just gave you three wishes, the only catch is you have to use them all now, here and now. And they only work on Angela. What is your first wish?’

Colin stared at her still. She pointed to me, and slowly, he turned to look at me, sitting on his wife’s dressing stool. ‘Three wishes?’ I pressed my hands together, twined my fingers about each other, and returned his stare. ‘That is a nice dress,’ he told me.

‘Thank you,’ I whispered.

His tone hardened, became commanding. ‘But I want you to take it off, I wish you to take that dress off.’
